Dead Island: Riptide

I want to be excited for this, I really do. My sister and I had some great Co-Op games with this and although the game had some flaws, I really did enjoy it over all.

I'm not happy with the fact that it's the same cast of characters but an -alternate reality- nonsense story, don't know why they just couldn't do a sequel or another set of characters all together (unless it's laziness). I'm sure I'll play it through the campaign just to get in some good zombie slaying but won't play it after that.

It's not an alternate reality. Site plainly says that it continues where the first one ended.

That said, meh.

Weird, the entire development cycle they said it wasn't going to be a sequel. Guess I should have read more recently.

Yeah, it's a sequel. The helicopter they are escaping on crashes due to the oncoming monsoon and they are on another nearby island. The new playable character is probably the tribal girl they brought with them on the way out, but that's not confirmed.

Wonder if Charon is going to be the main villain? The only reason they didn't head straight for the military ships is because of his lie about them wanting to nuke the island. Makes me wonder if he set up the whole thing to get the sample off the island and he has an escape boat waiting nearby.

The trailer for the first game caught everyone by surprise with how touching and sad it was. They're trying to recreate the effect with this trailer for the sequel. And, in my opinion, not very successfully.

Start game.
Get me 6 Vodka bottles.
Get vodka bottles.
Shitty Reward is given with some XP.
Lather, Rise, Repeat 250 times interrupted by terrible sewer levels.
End of Game Cinematic.
Post in the epic Jay Zombie games suck thread.

I honestly never made it past the beginning of the city. Those hulked out zombies in the straightjackets were killing me no less than 10 times before I could manage to down them. I broke 6-7 of my good weapons on those damn things. Way too much of a spike from the previous area where I was swatting zombies down left and right, including the big bruiser guys. I kind of gave up on it after that.[DOUBLEPOST=1348293094][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I picked the character that specialized in thrown weapons and in multiplayer, everyone would steal my damn weapons.

The first area they introduce them in is a small fenced in area where I couldn't get any distance. Plus, as I said, I specialized in throwing weapons, so without distance, I'm pretty much useless.

Yeah, I enjoyed it at first, but it was already starting getting boring. The boredom just morphed into frustration when I hit the city.

Yes, the small fenced in area was perfect. Stand by a wall, let him charge you, side step, destroy his weak spot. Even better with ranged weapons cause you could fire at him while moving backwards to the new wall and repeat.

Completely respect your opinion on not finding it fun and being bored with it though.

The trick on killing those easily is to use the dodge command that the game doesn't tell you about until after you've fought a bunch of them.

Exactly and they fixed the problem with throwing weapons in one of the first patches by giving you a few minutes to pick up stuff you've thrown. It works great now (though throwing weapons is kinda lame unless it's bomb knives). Dead Island is definitely improved.

I loved playing as throwing-weapons guy, until I threw my best knife into a zombie's head, only to watch them stumble backwards and off a cliff... COME BACK! GIMME BACK MY KNIFE!
