The game has been in development for a while... they have a great damage system by layers for the zombies.... layers for skin, muscle and bone, with dynamic, real-time, physics-based damage. The game will be open-ended, sand-box style (hence the convenience of being on an Island) with RPG elements and more of a melee-based attack system where EVERYTHING can be a weapon and the entire environment is destructible.

It's supposed to be a more "serious" zombie game than what we've gotten lately, with a lot of emphasis on story. I have high hopes for this.

The trailer was amazing, but I had mixed emotions:

Worried, no gameplay means this could be like anything. Wistful, the trailer made me wish this was more about to be a CG movie. Upset, that almost no horror film in the last 5-10 years has even attempted to stir up feelings as much as this simple trailer. Sad, I felt especially bad being the father of a 9 year old daughter, I probably would have ended up doing exactly what happened in that trailer.

A great realistic zombie game would make nearly orgasmic but for every "Walking Dead" there are 10 "Resident Evil : Survivors".

...well, this definitely looks interesting. Kind of like a more serious Dead Rising. Needs some improvement though, mainly in that terrible UI and some of the graphics. Otherwise, this could be a winner.

They are shooting for August, so don't expect a huge graphical overhaul. Personally, I don't mind it. However, i DON'T like the naming scheme of weapons... they have prefixes and shit. I don't want Diablo style equipment in my real world style game!

Looks interesting indeed, though not sure if it's got much to distinguish it from all the other zombie games. For example, the rainy sections gave me a really strong L4D2 feel.

I still want to play it though.

It's official, release date is September 6th. Here's an updated game trailer... and it is FUCKEN EPIC.



I gotta get my hands on this game's sound track, it's fantastic.

We now know the main characters of this game. The names of the four playable characters are Xian Mei (staff member at the hotel), Logan (a surfer), Sam B (former rapper) and Purna (a bodyguard).

I'll also be recruiting in August what I call "Halforums Head Hunters", aka "Triple H". :)

Details to come of course. Something along of the lines of playing uniquely together and progressing at the same pace. But we'll see how realistic these plans can be.

Dave, kindly update the thread title with the new info of release date.
