Anyone else catch last night's premiere? I have to say, the show is incredibly character driven and its characters are so very layered. I don't mean that in the different layers of the dolls, because even the non-doll characters are multi-layered like...the chick that runs the dollhouse whose name escapes me at the moment.

Anyway, my point is that Dollhouse is back and it's fantastic, as usual. Though, the appearances by other actors (Apollo! Wesley!) was a little off-putting; just enough to take me out of it for a second. In fact, when I first saw the guy that played Wesley on Buffy/Angel, I chuckled and said "Oh, Joss, you shameless whore, re-using actors". But then, if he likes the actor, why wouldn't he bring them back? After all, Summer Glau's coming in at some point, too. Apparently, not as a doll, as I'd originally assumed.

DAMMIT! I didn't realize it was on.

I'm watching the season premiere right now, and I'm enjoying it. I did not expect to like this show, but it surprised me.

Hoo-kay. So. Finally got it on iTunes. I'll spoiler my thoughts, since there's no spoiler alert in the title.

Episode 2 is out.

Got back to the more formulaic structure.
Nothing really stuck out to me about this one.

Damn I love this show.

Just caught up to episode 3 last night.

I think I'm becoming less of a fan.

I'll admit to liking the beginning episodes last year, even before Man on the Street. Having single episode contained stories with only a taste of a season-wide (or longer) sub-plot was, i think, the right way to kick off the show...help get the audience acquainted with the rules of the show's universe.

This year, though, it seems like they're trying so hard to touch on every single little nuance they've set up (including the episode 14 jump forward) that nothing seems to make sense.

The Dollhouse is supposed to be ultra-secretive, only those with piles of money and/or power would have access to it. But last week's single dad just seemed like some average top end executive. And now, a college professor!? So can any average shmoe just really rent a doll for the day all of a sudden?

And the whole "swapping imprints" just seemed TOO convenient. It was clear that Echo wasn't the only other active on assignment, but why was she the only one to receive Victor's "broadcast"....I'd have expected half a dozen dolls to receive the feedbacked imprint.

And as much as I adore the Topher character....just when are they going to let him stop trying these wildly elaborate "fixes?"

Yeah, I have to agree. I'm still enjoying the show, but there's not a whole lot different with this season. I keep waiting for the bomb to drop that Ballard or even whatshername, the head of the Dollhouse, are also dolls. Or that they're all dolls working for a bigger corporation or something and it's some kind of an ultimate test, like the Dharma Project or something.

Honestly, you know what I think would be an interesting episode? Having one entirely from the point of view of someone that first finds out about or discovers the Dollhouse and asks for their services. I'd like to see what the process is to find out about it.

Fortunately, there's just enough keeping me coming back for now. Victor's dancing had me on the floor, I was laughing so hard. I was glad to see November back and how her and Ballard reacted to each other.

Plus, Summer Glau is in the next epsiode and it's directed by...Jonathan Frakes! So, that's enough for me, for now.

I just have to throw in that I finally got the last disc of season one and saw the unaired episode. I know they said it wasn't that big a deal and if you missed it you'll still be into the show, but it seriously has changed how I'm going to watch the show from now on. It was amazing.
