So I finally got around to downloading the "new" Batman game for PC. And it looks cool. And I would like to play more. But I've heard from numerous sources that the game goes by fairly quickly and the reviews for console seemed to agree it was worth renting but not buying. I do not own a console. I would like to support the game with dollars of some kind but 50 bucks for a one shot deal does seem excessive. Are there any solutions to my dilemma?

If you absolutely aren't gonna buy it on PC and just want to make yourself feel better about stealing, then just rent it at Blockbuster and put it in the QuikDrop on your way out.

Yeah, that occurred to me shortly after posting, and is probably the only viable option. Out of curiosity, does anyone here feel strongly that it IS worth the full 50 dollars?

I think if you want to play the PC version, you should pay $50

I'm waiting for it to go on sale. It'll probably be on sale for $30 or less within six months, and in a year or so under $20.

I think it's fully worth the $50.

The main campaign is about 10 hours if you go through at a normal pace, taking your time to bet the Batman and investigate shit. Longer if you're exceptionally meticulous, and want to solve every riddle and find every trophy.

The challenge maps add a lot more content, and while they might not be everyone's cup of tea, I find them to be a lot of fun. Pushing yourself to do better on the extreme maps will add quite a lot to the replayability.

If you like Batman at all, and especially if you enjoyed the Animated Series, I'd say it's well worth the $50. I bought it day one, and I loved every moment of it.

*If you have a decent nvidia card, make sure to download the physx patch.

It's worth every penny, even if you can finish it quickly. You don't pirate a movie when it clocks in at an hour and a half, do you? Or a DVD with very few extras. I've never heard anyone say "I'm not going to buy that movie because I'm going to be done with it in two hours."

Compare the price. Batman = $50. If you get more than four hours of entertainment out of it, you just beat three 1.5 hour no extras DVD movies at $15. Not bad at all.

If you really want to play it but can't justify the price, wait six months and it'll drop.

It definitely takes more than 4 hours to beat Arkham Asylum. Especially if you're trying at all to do the Riddler stuff.

Sorry I believe renting games is only for us civilized non-elitist snobs who console game.

Wait till the price goes down... or the dollar... whichever goes first...

like most PC games, you can wait until the price goes down or Steam (or direct to drive) has a sale

In my honest opinion I would recommend owning it and would suggest getting it for either the 360 or PS3 if you own a console.

I only tried the demo for the PC version but it was another 360 port and felt blegh.

Then again being a Batman fan the story was decently well written except the lackluster ending which was pretty disapointing.

I hope Eidos makes a sequal to this game with Doctor Freeze and other characters they havent used.

The Final Battle is utter crap. Really... I can't see how they could have fucked it up more. If your going to have us face the Joker, thenLET US FIGHT HIM. Don't fucking make him a part of the scenery.

I also didn't like how repetitive the boss fights and mini boss fights became slightly repetitive. The only challenging boss fight was maybe Poison Ivy but all you did then was just spam her with batarangs.

The killer croc part was the most disappointing after Bane. I mean you freaking ram him with your car and thats it? oi

You do know that in most of the comics Bat's fights with the Joker are... very short. Generally it's Bat's fighting the Joker's henchmen. Joker ain't a brawler.

Not having seen the ending, I'd say that the way I'd have done it for the joker to be more of an environmental effect than an actual opponent, launching random crap at you from out of reach, up until you finally reach him, after which it's over pretty quickly. He's definitely a mastermind type villain.

Besides, I saw the boss fights as more of a diversion in between the main portions of the game, which was running around beating thugs and detectiving.

He's still MUCH more bad ass in the PS3 Joker Challenges. He's Batman's match in combat there, only with some much cooler toys.

ARRR!!! So it turns out Steam was selling it for $25 on Black Friday, but I didn't find out till today.

Finally beat it.

I'm hoping that Eidos will do a sequal.
They left out a whole bunch of villains.

I'm hoping for a Freeze fight the next time or Catwoman.

No Bane though.

Yeah that end fight was terrible. And I hated how everything turned out afterwards. But it is probably one of the better videogames I've played in a long, long time. So yeah, MOAR.

I think that is a good one. People usually equate price over value of the item.

There are some movies that my wife would pay to get the "extra" on Blu-Ray and some movies she doesn't care as much (but like to watch) on regular DVD without the extras for 5$ less

some movies she wouldn't pay more than 5$ for or 10$ (so we wait until the price goes down)

Games are the same thing. I could have waited for Left 4 Dead 2 price to go down, but I had so much fun playing Left 4 Dead, I figure it was a good investment to spend 50$ for a new game instead of waiting for it to go on sale and play later.

Mirror's Edge is a good example. I thought it was an interesting game to buy, but I didn't want to spend full price on it when it was release. I didn't think I would have much fun with it, but since it was on sale for 5$, I figure if I bought it and didn't like it, it would not be too much a monetary lost (since I bought PC version)
