Entourage (HBO) - SPOLIERS AHOY FOR NOOBS

Just wanted to know, how many HFers watch this series?

/me bored at work

I love it. This season's been a little underwhelming, but I'm a huge fan. It's probably the flagship show where the "lead character" is a horrible person and boring as shit, but you stick with it for all the great characters around him. The Day-Fuckers is one of my favorite episodes of anything.

I also like that it's been going long enough to earn some of the nice-r character moments this season. Like Eric taking Ari's advice about his client to heart, and Ari actually helping out Turtle for one second as a birthday present.

I love it too, although I have to admit that what I heard about it the other day rings true every time I watch (and enjoy, mind you) a new episode.... that Entourage is the male equivalent to Sex and the City.

FUCKING LOVE IT.

Before season 6 started I watched all of the seasons before, and now I'm addicted, and cannot wait until the next episode every Sunday night.

Charlie Don't Surf made me watch the pilot and I thought it was pretty awful, though I'm willing to give it another chance. I especially want to see the Werner Herzog surrogate

Tried to watch it a couple of times, but I just wanted to shoot every character in the face and then rape the hole that was left.

I won't apologize for the Pilot, it's not very good. I have no desire to watch it again.

I keep telling you I'll give the show a second chance (perhaps with the episode AFTER the pilot????) but you don't seem very enthusiastic about it.

I feel the same way.

It's something odd to see Ari so.... calm... "most" of the time. I mean, this is the guy who spits fire when shit doesn't go his way. Seeing him being "nice" to E and Turtle left me back last episode. Thus far the season has been, while watchable at times with... gems like this.

"When my son was born my greatest fear is having this conversation. I knew that I would give him anything he wanted because he was my son and I couldn't say no, which sucks, cause it wouldn't help him and he'd just end up in the streets doing heroin with the two Corries because I was too much of a pussy to teach him a lesson."

I'm hoping for Drama (my fav dude) character development and Vince being less boring than he already is. Ari gold creating a new asshole in someone would be nice as well... all in all it's been a weak transition from the last season.

Oh and the last thing.... the actress they have playing Ashley... should eat a burger or two... hard to compare her to Sloan.

Sloan is WAY hotter.

Also, we need a "Ari slaps a guy" moment this season.

This. Vince is alright but for the longest time Drama, Ari and Turtle carry this show.

This season is.. different. Vince has jobs coming out of his ears, Eric is the one failing, Drama is still being Drama, and poor Turtle is just trying to climb out of Vince's shadow.

I could listen to Ari rant and rave for 30 minues and be entertained as fuck

I watched the first couple seasons, but haven't caught up. I enjoy it, even if it is a pretty ridiculous show. It's a guilty pleasure.

I'm about a season or two behind, but I love it. Favourite part of the show was (shock of shocks) the Aquaman-related episodes. And the ones with Medean (sp?), which is where I left off.

To compare sloan to ashley is like comparing porche to honda. Sloan gives me wood everytime she's on the screen, Ashley makes me crave to eat a Burger at Harveys... she's so damn gaunt with a huge head.

Oh, and I'm hoping that Ari slaps a guy this season as well. I need MAD ARI.

He was one of my favorite characters in smaller doses. He still was pretty good when he was in a bunch of episodes, but those first random few were amazing.

When he just turns around wearing the "FUCK SUITS" t-shirt is one of my favorite sight gags from the show.

#20

Jay

Jay

Entourage (HBO)

Best quotes.

Billy Walsh : "You mind if I use your shitter, I just gotta piss, but the one in the waiting room stank like a refugee boat."
Billy Walsh : "I will not let those douchebags Aquamanify my movie!"
Billy Walsh : "One suit. Two Suit. Three suit. Four."

Knowing Billy he probably locked himself in a bathroom with lines of coke and the gun loaded this time.

I actually thought the trailer for Medellin was great.. Not quite as good as the minute or so of footage we saw of Aquaman (come on who didn't wanna see what happened next after Vince jumped off that pier? although A.C. shoulda been blonde not brunette).

This. Carnivale got canceled way to early, if you read the writers notes they were going to do 6 seasons, each 2 seasons completing a "book" of the show, the first "book" (seasons 1 and 2) introduced us to the the avatars of both sides dark and light. book 2 and 3 would have further explored this and much more.

I'll hand it to HBO, they have balls to be different and try something new but sometimes..they just dont stick with it (I'm looking at you John From Cincinnati)

Entourage (HBO)

Me too. I was really impressed that they were able to end the second season with something that could have been an "end" or could have been a cliffhanger. It worked well either way. And Samson is one of my all-time favorite characters on TV.

I lost the thread of Entourage along the way. Think I missed last season. Don't really miss it too much.

#27

Entourage (HBO)

You know what would be great for Carnivale, to let it continue? A comic series. I honestly wish more cancelled series would continue on there, just so the writers don't go mad with unfinished stories.

#38

Yea, I feel that 30 minutes is simply not enough... before they used to focus on Vince and Hollywood. Now, everyone is getting 5-6 minutes and the story is slower... damn, I wish it went on for an hour.

#39

Calleja

Calleja

Entourage has ALWAYS felt like it's too short for me, though.

#40

Charlie Don't Surf

The Lovely Boehner

Entourage does kind of suffer from going-too-fast. Also, this season is kind of just meandering along.

#41

Okay, I'm now all caught up. And I don't really see how Vince is an asshole, Charlie. Yeah, he's probably the least entertaining character (mostly because they play him up TOO much as: a) loved by everyone and b) so frigging loveable), but he's hardly an asshole. He's bent over backwards and endlessly helped out his friends. And, as far as recent episodes, it's clear that he has very little else in life outside of his friends/entourage. Something that he's starting to realize, now.

I wasn't crazy about the Ashley character at first, but like E, she's starting to grow on me. She has that kind of free spirit/childlike kind of personality to her, which is great for E, who is crazy uptight so often.

Yeah, I don't see things going well with Drama and Turtle's gal. Given the show is about the closeknit friendship among the four (or five, if you count Ari) of them, it won't be Drama's fault if something bad goes down, if anything. It'll either be a) nothing bad happens at all, b) Turtle gets insanely jealous to the point she dumps him or c) she gets weird with Drama and the plug is pulled, as a result.

I'm forced to agree. Nothing interesting is going on! Summary of the episode :

Vince: I got nothing to do, I don't value money, I'm a "star", I made 4m doing a voiceover of a dog!

E: Hi, I resent Sloan for no reason other than hating myself. PS: I don't know WTF I'm doing. But I did move the story along at the end of the show though, so someone pat me on the back!

Drama : LOLz, surprise surprise, I suck at golf.

Turtle : I'm a little bitch.

Ari : I'm nice for some reason, I was nice to Jeffrey for an entire episode and still ate shit.

Fuck!!!! How can this season suck so much!!!

#45

Charlie Don't Surf

The Lovely Boehner

it's a problem when the guest star Jeffrey Tambor is the only really entertaining or funny character.

#46

HCGLNS

HCGLNS

The entire episode was just meandering unitl the final scene. Though I did like Ari abusing Lloyd.

#47

Calleja

Calleja

I had a lot of fun watching the episode, I don't know what you guys expect besides that. I laughed, I giggled, I saw characters I've grown to love be those characters. Does EVERY episode have to be a huge turning point for everyone or something?

I do think they should switch to one hour, though.

#48

Jay

Jay

I feel the same way, I just want "something" consequential to happen. The awesome part of the show was the "Hollywood" drama of things and how THAT affected their lives and relationships. For example, last week Drama asked Turtle if his GF can play the lover's interest in his simcom, which they agreed. I wanted to see THAT shit going on. I want Ari and E to fight. I was Vince to feel like he wants to be "bigger and better". what I've seen so far is a lot of dilly dally as the season hops along (now 1/3 through) and nothing has happened other than "Thanks Sloan".

#49

Charlie Don't Surf

The Lovely Boehner

I think the thing I most hated about the episode was that Vince doing some animated movie for $4m was a throwaway line out of nowhere, and that all happened off-camera without any of the interesting drama/happenings of every single other one of his movies.

#50

Calleja

Calleja

I think that was the point, that the dude is doing so good it's not even a big deal when he gets $4m for being the voice of a dog.

#51

klew

klew

I figured this one was the throwaway episode where Mark Wahlberg can show off "Hey, I'm friends with Tom Brady!"

#52

Jay

Jay

I was originally set back when he went from "ruined actor" to "hey i just finished an amazing scorcese movie". I was patient and wanted to see where they are going with this. Now Vince is an after-thought, they literally threw this at us as in "lolz, I'm making EZ money and now I'm the support actor, enjoy watching E now". I loved the Hollywood aspect of the show and how it affected things between them, I loved seeing Drama get owned... now I'm watching is E dealing with 2 relationships and have NOTHING to do with Hollywood. I'm going to keep my negativity until next week but 4 episodes of buildup and throwaways is hard to deal with when you only get 12 episodes a season. This isn't even the same Ari.

WTF is going on. :aaahhh:

#53

Calleja

Calleja

How is it not the same Ari!?

Did you not SEE how he tortured Lloyd? man, when he started whacking the bag Lloyd was carrying with the golf club I cracked up.

We're just seeing the "I have an actual friend" side of Ari, we've seen other soft spots of him before. He actually cares for.... that guy who was the boss on Office Space, whatever his name is.

#54

Roxxoredizorz

I thought it wasn't the funniest episode yet, but it kept the show going. I still love this show, and will continue to support it every week. And why should it matter that they show Vince doing the voice over? They havent shown him doing the work on the movies in the past. Well, tiny bits here and there, but nothing else.

And WOOT It got renewed for another season!

#55

Charlie Don't Surf

The Lovely Boehner

It's not that I want to see him in the studio talking into a mic, it's just that the inner-workings of Hollywood are really interesting and what the show was originally about. They used to have full seasons about his next project, and while the stupid animated movie isn't worth a full season by any stretch, I wish they'd spend maybe a SECOND about how that comes together.

WOW, That was a great episode. I think that Sex tape thing is gonna be a GIANT part of this season. I can feeeeeel it. And I wanted to see what happened after Drama's fight. Also, Poor Eric. He did technically tell her the truth, but a bit not.

#59

Jay

Jay

Finally an episode I enjoyed. Drama becomes an interesting character again and I loved that they went back to "hollywood", can't wait too how that story unfolds. The part where Turtle sees his GF making out with his best friend and her complaining that his tongue is too strong... PRICELESS.

"now all i can think about is ramming tony sopranos daughter from behind" - i LOLed hard

Yes, I smelled sex tape all over that, I hope it happens because Vince has become as stale as 7 day old bread.

Ari probably said the best line of the entire series... "You so much as eye *beep* another agent, I will deport you naked to the Taliban."

Good show... hopefully the end of Ashley.... can't stand her at all.

#60

Charlie Don't Surf

The Lovely Boehner

Yeah, this one was definitely fun, and back to the Entourage of old where I was like "huh? I can't believe it's over!" instead of "when will this finally be over?"

Wait, does the channel you watch it on censor the swear words? I was watching a rerun the other day by chance, and it pissed me off they had censored it, it confused the narrative, especially since the sex scenes are cut out.

#66

Calleja

Calleja

Oh man, the only thing this episode needed was more Ari, really.

#67

Jay

Jay

I didn't mind it. The way I saw things, it put the focus on other things and FINALLY brought it back home to the Hollywood scene. E's first day at the agency, Drama getting owned, Vince getting a stalker... it was good.

The best comment of the season though... was from E's new boss... "tomorrow sign Christian Bale, maybe he'll sign if we allow him to execute a cinematographer"

I LOLed hard.

#68

Roxxoredizorz

How did you guys like this weeks episode, I loved it.

It's returning to the old FRANTIC Entourage.

I loved the part where Drama slaps Turtles ass and says "Come on bitch"

#69

Jay

Jay

There were decent parts but I screamed when I saw Ashley back. The whole E romance thing has sucked ass.

I was disappointed there was no Drama vs Studio Exec, that was awesome... now we gotta wait another 2 weeks... no episode on Labor Day weekend.

#70

Soooo...I'm not the only one who figures Ashley's the stalker, right?

Yeah, I don't see Ashley as the stalker.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. I thought it'd make for a fun plot twist, given how...well, a little nutty Ashley is.

#74

Roxxoredizorz

BAM! It was the fucking College girls!

But that was a good episode, and I can't wait for the next one.

#75

Shannow

Shannow

Eh, i dunno, I wasnt too impressed with it at all. I thought the college girl ting was just plain stupid. And the formula of "there is a hot cfhick, Vince will be fucking her next scene" is getting a little stale.

Though the Lloyd/Arie side line was great.

#76

Roxxoredizorz

I almost shat myself at the end of that.

First I thought it was going to be taking over Drama's spot on Four Towns, but then she busted out New Zealand!

And to Ashley - NANANANA NANANANA HEY HEY HEY GOOD BYE!

#77

Charlie Don't Surf

Ashley clearly's gonna go psycho.

Is the theme of this season psycho women? You've got Ari's friend's wife (though her anger was understandable; maybe not her actions), Turtle's girlfriend, Ashley, Sloan...to a lesser extent (confusing the hell out of Eric). I'm sure I could come up with more examples, but, in the words of a great philosopher:

"Bitches, they be trippin'."

That said, the last few episodes have really bounced the show back quite a bit.

It was okay. You'd think Jamie would be a LITTLE more understanding and realize Turtle wants to try when he's bloody well on his way to see her. Good to see the Ari/Lloyd team back together. And Drama finally getting a break.

Personally, and I'll probably get flamed for this: I don't think Sloan's all that attractive. I saw the actress years ago in 100 Girls and thought she was amazing. She's got a great energy to her and everything, don't get me wrong. But cripes, the girl looks plastic as all hell, now, especially in the chest.
