Did you ever feel like the world didn't have enough fanfiction that asks the question "What would happen if you created a superintelligence AI to run a My Little Pony MMO, and then gave it the instruction 'Satisfy human values as effectively as possible using friendship and ponies?", knowing that it would follow your instructions to the letter?

Friendship is Optimal is... oddly enough, one of the more plausible examinations of an artificial intelligence explosion that I've seen. I want to say more, but it's probably more interesting if you make predictions about where the story is going as you read.

The story is finished already, but being released on fimfiction.net (two more chapters coming Thursday, with the last chapter(s) and afterward coming this Sunday).

Quoting a friend's reaction: WE ARE DOOOMED

Story finished last Sunday. I realize this is a pretty weird story to pitch to people, but I really do highly recommend this if:

a) you like MLP and weird nerd things and want to see a really weird take on MLP

b) you want to see a story about the development of an artificial intelligence and how its development would impact humanity.

A friend posed the question about people that wouldn't mind staying on equestria (or not have a choice) but being able to explore the real universe?

Also, what about people that wanted to explore the Equestrai-Universe? building scapeships and stuff? >.>
