I just finished watching "The Proposal" again, and it's a close tie between that and "Unforgiven". I know "The Proposal" isn't a true western in that it isn't set in America, but it's in the same style.

Is it bad when I say Young Guns?

Really, I don't care. Personally if that is your favorite I'm of the opinion you just haven't seen enough westerns.

Well, given the fact that I generally don't like westerns, that would probably be the reason it's my favorite.
Hey, at least I didn't say Wild Wild West, or Lust in the Dust.

If you haven't seen either of the ones I mentioned, check them out. They are both modern westerns with incredibly good scenery. I'm not a big fan of the older ones mainly because I am a big visual person. I'll admit it, I like pretty pictures. Both of these movies have great anti-heroes, great gunfights, great cinematography, and great endings. Not to mention great stories.

I have seen Unforgiven, and I realized that I just can't stand Clint Eastwood.

Gonna say Unforgiven as my favorite. Love Eastwood and no that has nothing to do with Bowie's post. I really was writing this before reading the thread.

I believe my favorite is The Oxbow Incident, a very short movie - barely more than an hour - about a lynch mob.

Frankie Williamson
Deadwood, but if you want a movie, then probably Unforgiven or possibly Tombstone.

Just Me
Never been much into western myself, but from those few I've seen I always love to rewatch El Dorado.
Oh, and Quigley down under

I'd have to go with "The Cowboys" "You know, trail driving is not Sunday school picnic. You got to figure you're dealing with the dumbest oneriest critter on God's green earth. The cow is nothing but trouble tied up in a leather bag - and the horse ain't much better. "

Unforgiven is an amazing film.
However, my favorite western and one of my top two favorite movies ever is The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Easy question.

My Name Is Nobody
Really, anything by Sergio Leone (I know he's not responsible for everything in my list, no need to correct that). I love spaghetti westerns, and he made some of the best.
Can I say Inglourious Basterds? It's basically a spaghetti western set in WW2 France...
