Considering that the first twenty levels in Tortage are the best part of the game, this is a pretty sweet deal, but you have to sign up before January. Despite how the rest of the game may fare today, (I haven't played past the first month it was out) Tortage was a lot of fun, so if you have a PC that can handle it, I suggest giving it a try.
I'm kinda confused by the installation process. I created an account, clicked download. It downloaded an install manager, which then downloaded what claims to be the game, except that it took about 2 minutes instead of the hour+ I was expecting, and now I'm downloading patches but somewhere it said I was supposed to need 20+ gigabytes of free space and I don't think I've actually got the game itself.

I believe it only downloads the areas you can access if you download the trial client, rather than the full game. The patches alone are around 4GB, which I think is the bulk of what you can access in the trial.

Ugh. I was excited about this game, even went out and bought the collectors edition at release. And...ugh..what a pile of hope that fell apart. I think I will pass.
I hate to say it, but I think WoW made a "boring" task fun. While some aspect is boring, it is not boring enough to have over 10 million subscribers.
While it is cool to see some new "niche" game, but it is not enough to draw I wonder if there is a magic formula that new MMORPG can do to get similar draw but different than WoW (yea.. that is my poor attempt to jab at the WoW clone beta)
