Oh yeah? Well maybe I 'll say no to Bill Murray.

That's been old news for a long time. Akroyd is basically going to just replace Bill Murray, is where it stands right now. But Akroyd has been full of shit about this project ever since the initial rumors sprung up.

I really, really, really don't even want this movie to come out. There is no way it won't suck and it's completely uneccessary.

Here's how you get him to be in it.

Opening credits show a montage of what has happened these last 20 (?) years. The ghost busters were proclaimed heroes and have since opened up a ghost busting academy. Everything is great. Professor...bill murry's character... Is on his way to give an address to the most recent class of graduates. Everything is great. BAM! Hit by a bus.

He spends the rest of the movie as a ghost just fuckin' with shit.

You know they actually proposed that. You can follow the link in the above article to an interview with murray where they mentioned that very plot. I still don't think he liked it.

I already forgot almost everything about Ghostusters 2.
There can be only one!

There's a link in there to a GQ interview with Bill Murray that I guess I read years ago. In that link he talks about how Kung Fu Hustle signalled the death of the american comedy (as no americans could compete with that.) I feel exceptionally vindicated right now.

Also why did you guys even think this could happen. He's done nothing but emphatically say no for the last decade. Plus he's pretty infamous for never doing a single role he doesn't want to do.

And yet, he did 2 Garfield movies :p

I honestly don't want to see any more revives, remakes or reboots.

I'd be far more interested in seeing new properties being developed.

Say what you will about the Underworld series, but at least it's a new IP.

They're on underworld 4 now. The first one came out close to 10 years ago. Then it was a new IP, now it's just beating the dead horse of what's her name in a body suit.

Ghostbusters is at least good, and I feel like this is more of a project of love from the original cast (minus murry) than Hollywood not having anything new to offer.

I look at it this way. The ghostbusters video game was written by Ramus with all the original cast members reprising their voice roles and guess what. The story was just a rehash of the original movies. If that's any indication of what Ghostbusters 3 would be, no thank you.

Last I heard Aykroyd and Reitman both said they were going to do the movie with or without Bill Murray.
How you can have Ghostbusters without Venkman is beyond me. To steal a line from Ralph Garman:

"Ghostbusters without Bill Murray? That'd be like doing the Blues Brothers without John Belushi!"

I seem to remember reading an interview with Dan Aykroyd where he said the plot would be about them having to go to hell. Or did that end up being the video game? (I have the video game but never got past the first level because FALLOUT came on sale)

The hell thing was a script from a long time ago. It was also supposed to be a real downer throughout a la beginning of Ghostbusters 2. I would hope they've written a new script since then.
