Found more webcomics! Candi, Dreamless, Jack of all Blades

Candi - by Starline Hodge

A comic about art school students. That pretty much sums it up. It's five or six years old, so you get a chance to see both the writing and the art evolve dramatically. Fans of bobwhite will probably like this, too. EDIT: Oh, this one's already on the webcomics list. Missed it... I guess at least one person here besides myself has already seen this!

Here's a comic that I'm surprised hasn't got more than a brief, offhanded mention on this forum:

Dreamless - by Bobby Crosby (writing) & Sarah Ellerton (illustration)

Set in the time leading up to the Pacific War between Japan and the US, the story revolves around a young man and woman (from those countries, respectively) who, when they dream, enter the consciousness of the other -- seeing, hearing, and feeling what the other does. It's a great story so far, and the art is fantastic.

Jack of All Blades - by Art Frederick, Joe Hills, & Sam Bennighof

I had been seeing PW ads for this comic for a while, but was skeptical that it would be any good, and hadn't checked it out until recently. It's actually pretty good, though! It's an adventure comic full of the tropes of RPGs and fantasy/sci-fi. The art is pretty simplistic, and you'll notice copy/pasting used now and then. But it is in color and has more panels per page than most comics, so.

That's all I've got right now that isn't already on the list. I'm gonna go add these now.

Here's the last thread I did, in case you missed it.

Yah all of these are available as part of the aggregate site Keenspot. I had asked about the way to list these aggregates such as Drunk duck, Keenspot, comics.com, and (formerly) Blank Label. Lots of comics on them, not all are on my daily list tho so I didn't submit them in the early lists.

YAOMTC

First two are on Keenspot, but I'm pretty sure JoAB is not.

My bad, I was thinking of Guilded Age.

Starline actually used to be around during the PVP days, I think she and Donny used to fight. Anyone remember Donny? Tell me I'm not the only one.

Heh, I remember Donny. I specifically remember Donny giving Starline shit about how she drew her figures. Then I saw how Donny drew the female form

Reading! It's not just for the cool kids anymore! :p

I'm just giving you crap, she was really cool and she handled donny and his lady tanks very well.

Image forums... Yeah, that was before my time.

I don't suppose it still exists (even in locked, archived form), unlike the Halfpixel boards?

It does but it's pretty much been wiped so nothing is really there expect odd Callejah threads he starts every now and then.

Been reading Candi since it started; knew her off the It's Walky boards.

I do remember the fights though. Donny is STILL a dick to her on Twitter and the like these days.

Is he? Whats his twitter? I want to see how the lady tanks are doing.

I don't know; I just randomly found Starline's twitter some day and saw he was bitching at her, and some other discussion about it was happening elsewhere. This was months ago; I wish I could give links. Try his webcomic, Antiseptic Poetry. Maybe the site will lead you somewhere?

I totally forgot what his comic was, ladytanks.com wasn't it so I gave up.

Sites no there no more. Oh well. No lady tanks.

I wonder if he's upset that she has a bigger fanbase. People like William G and him tend to get that way.

Eh. The only part of Candi I found particularly amusing was the ferrett. The rest seemed pretty blah-teenagers-blah-soap-opera to me. (Despite this, for some reason I continued reading the strip for quite a while).

That's opinion. Donny was treating her like shit. Like, hate, or don't care about her comic, he had no right to do that.

I never cared for either strip to be honest. I don't care for teenage melodrama and I don't jerk off to ladytanks. So neither really did much for me but Starline was super cool and Donny was super lame.

I also miss Ben Paddon and I miss Rittz every single day.

What is the purpose of wiping forums. I don't get it. I mean, it's just a bunch of text... Why ever wipe when you can simply lock and archive?

Oh well.

And not nearly enough about the tasting of the tastemaker!

The biggest thing I miss about Halfpixel in general is the fact that a lot of artists/webcomickers bled over from the other sections on the board. George Comics was another dude I liked.

A little hard to forget him, lol, he used to take the occasional potshot at the PVP section of Halfpixel in the Straub sections long after he gave Starline crap and everybody dogpiled on him in the art thread.

Who was Donny? The only comicers I remember besides Rittz, Zappit and Straub/Kurtz was the guy who did Polymer City Chronicles. Granted, I've only been around since the last 3 months or so of PvP's forum.

Donny was a big Straub fan. He posted a lot near the beginning of Halfpixel (I don't think he was around in the Image days?). He got into a bunch of fights with JCM early on I believe. He pretty much kept out of the PVP section after people ridiculed his art in response to the Starline stuff.

Lets toss a new comic on the fire, found this from a reference from Flaky Pastry

Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name - By Tessa Stone

Nice post modern Noir comic, seems to be pretty solid story with a surreal comic style but I enjoy it. Not sure on updates because I found it and ran the archives today. HUGE energy in the visuals.

Someone can toss this in the Wiki it'd be a not bad thing.

Seconded! Going through the archives now, and this may now be on my top 10 already. So good... Thanks for posting it, Dusty!
