A couple of days late, but...
Frederik Pohl, one of the few writers who was truly deserving of the overused epithet "grandmaster of science fiction", has died aged 93.
I was first introduced to his work with Man Plus, but many probably know him for the Heechee Saga or for his collaborative novel The Space Merchants.

He truly was a pivot point of Science Fiction, not only for the volume of his work, but also for the ideas he put forth, and for how much he influenced the genre itself.

I don't think I've read any of his stuff. I'll have to acquire one of his works, he was releasing stuff during the heyday of science fiction...

If SciFi were Disney, Frederik Pohl would be one of the Nine Old Men.

A) Wow, he was still alive?!
B) Damn, that's a big loss :(
C) There's a sequel to Gateway? It was one of my first SF novels, I love it, and I never knew  OFF TO THE SECOND HAND BOOK STORE!
