yes but those are OUT OF PRINT!, if you got them when they were inprint it was like 200 bucks for the whole shabang! this thing is BRAND NEW on the market, and their MSRP is 600!

To be fair, Sailor Moon is a special case at least. Toei was infamously tight with it's control of the series, to the tune of not letting it be licensed for something like a decade for no reason at all. We're only just NOW getting the series back on the air, and that's only in some countries. The inflated prices make sense when your the only game in town.

Ye gods, and they wonder why anime has such a massive piracy problem...
I think it's more the fact that most anime fans don't want to wait more than a few days after an episode's airing to see an episode. Sure, prices are insane, but so are delays.
And prices in general are getting better. We just got Trigun for $18, and a number of anime series are going for $10 on Amazon. Complete series.
It's just ridiculous to assume people will pay hundreds for a 26-episode series. We pay $40 for a season of a show with nearly that many episodes, and the episodes of the show might be an hour long.

I actually don't disagree at all, i just meant the series interested me a little, and I was going to buy it until i saw the price. a good friend of mine told me I should wait for some smuck to buy it and then when he/she sells it for rent money in a few months pick it up for substantially less 
Sounds like a good plan.
