So I guess today is day 1. I'm really curious to see how this pans out. Many many many aspects of this game are very much in common with EvE online, but in a more 'light' version. A number of the maps I have seen seem to run very similar to TF2. So, think EvE online grand strategy dealt with in instanced TF2 maps.

Potentially very interesting. Its one server, which is pretty tits, but I am concerned that the amount of flux between territory possesion will be too high and will lead to people not valuing holding territory. Maybe that won't be the case. I just don't want to see something like what happened in WAR, where taking and holding keeps quickly became pointless due to the insanely rapid flux of ownership.

I may end up picking this one up, havent decided yet. Anyone else looking at it?

I probably won't check it out (I don't play MMOs, generally) but if there's one game that could use a "Lite" version of it, it's EvE Online.

I did read one thing today that made me cringe. The cool thing about the game is the conquest map. It's where the Grand Strategy happens. You conquer areas with 10 man pvp matches which give you resources or defensively valuable positions you can use to research and build equipment for your group or get missile silos to yada yada yada. Anyways, this is what appeals to me, what I read was that they wipe this map every 4-6 months or so.

Ugh. All your achievements wiped to oblivion. Really defeats the purpose.

I find in games were you can capture locations that gives bonuses, that such needs to happen. Just in WoW the Alliance on my server complain about the fact Horde owns Wintergrasp 98% of the time, we are literally getting people faction transferring just because they are pissed about never seeing Vaults for a whole week. Allowing the conquest zones to reset means a powerful agency can't squat in the majority of zones and gives all agencies a fresh chance every few months to come out on top.

The game actually looks interesting. I am going to give it a try when the initial price drops.

That has always been the problem with any 2 faction pvp mmo I've played. WAR, WoW, Aion...etc. 1 faction just always dominates the other and it becomes very un-fun very fast for the side that's constantly on the receiving end. DAOC had the absolute right idea with having three factions. Three factions tend to balance themselves out much better. If one faction continually dominates the other 2 can join forces to fight them. Why the hell companies still keep making 2 faction games is beyond me. If WAR was 3-faction which the IP definitely supports, it would have been a much better game.

Anyone else remember Red Alert 2's global conquest mode?

That was awesome.
