Lived in the same house for all 19 years of my life

I am currently laughing at you while also dreading digging through 19 year old piles of accumulated junk someday

I'm dreading the day I have to move out... But, a promise is a promise. My folks let me stay at this condo rent-free as long as I studied in the university, and they will eventually move in here. They're retired, and I've understood they wish to move back to the city from the countryside before it becomes a burden for them to maintain the house in which me and my two siblings grew up.

Still, this place has been my home for nearly a decade. *sighs*

The only place which I didn't regret moving out of was my room in the shared apartment in Ireland. I felt so cooped up, and the washroom was just horrid for a multitude of reasons.

I've moved so many times in my life you'd think I was a nomad following my food source around the plains. Growing up it averaged once a year, and some of that was from one state to another. It's annoying, but it's no longer that big of a deal to me.

Last time we moved we really pared out the stuff we didn't need, and I mean in a major way. It was rather cathartic in a good way, I mean we got rid of junk that we didn't use, didn't need and didn't want in our lives anymore. Then sold the house that it was in.

Remember, when dealing with heavy objects always bend at your waist and lift with a quick jerking motion.

Ha I feel sorry for you guys when i move into my own digs i wont have too much to take with me because i dont tend to acumulate a lot of stuff.

I hate moving too. I just want to finish grad school w/o having to do it again. Blech.

The last time I moved, I did exactly that. I sent clothes to GoodWill. I donated books. I also boxed up anything that I didn't need/use, and put them in my parent's attic.

I remember when I used to be able to stick everything I owned in the trunk and back seat of a Ford Taurus. Not anymore.:(

Don't worry, man. Soon you'll be Shanout and moving!

GodDAMN, son, your forum name is fun to play with! I gotta do this more often.

Moving? Try renovating... moving all that stuff into other rooms and then having to carry a new bed through that... and this has been going on for 2 week already and we only got 2 room done... and taking out 40 year old radiators that weight a tonne (lucky for use that skateboard by bro bought 10 years ago and never used he;d their weight)... i can't wait for it to be over.

Positive side...moving out of place where I have a very small bedroom...going to apartemnt where the room I will have will be of a much more substantial size!

negative note...going to be paying a lot more for rent. Looks like I will be broke for a while. I will miss you, bars. But do not fret, I will return as soon as I am able!!!

....stupid liver is rejoicing. The bastard.

I'm moving in January/February. I'm not looking forward to it.

Then again, my current house is much, much smaller than the new place, so we'll have fun picking out new furniture sets. Lord knows my wife is looking forward to this, so I'll enjoy it too. Pretty much getting a new dining room set, a new living room set, kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, both kids are getting room sets. What I'm looking forward to the most is finally getting this:

Home-made brew, coming up?
I suppsoe I could, with the large garage this place has for us that we are using for storage/weight room..but I am not much of a home brewer. The time off from all the drinkign will be healthy, both for my liver and my wallet.

ugh, looks like back to more video games. Jesus, I do not know if I can go back to full time raider after having given it up early this year. But at least it will be something to do.

ugh I so hate moving

Everything I have has to go into boxes and they all get tangled together. You are bound to lose at least one item and all your boxes no matter how well you pack them will get mixed up.

We're getting our hardwoods refinished next week. That means we have to move the shit from 80% of the house (bedrooms, living room, etc.) into the two rooms that don't have wood floors, one of which is the kitchen, which doesn't have a lot of spare floor space. I can move some stuff out to the garage, but it's across the backyard, so that will be a pain. No matter what, this will suck.

To top it off, we're doing this in preparation for putting the house on the market, so we have a moving day to look forward to as well. You people with apartments have no idea how much shit you can accumulate in a house.

The worst move I had was when I moved into a 3rd story aparment. Those boxes got heavier with each step.

I just moved this weekend & it went pretty well, actually. I pack everything & then throw it away as I uppack. It's not a very good system when I think about it now.

Almost done! Not much left to pack, and the move out is Sunday.

Man, that hangover is going to suck after Halloween. Perhaps I should jsut keep wearing the cobra commander costume while moving, really confuse the neibors.

"Yes...this will make an excellent site for a new operations center...for COOOOBRRRRAAAAA!!!!!

...eh, what? yes, put the couch over in that room, across from the tv. YYYYESSSSS!!!! SUCCCEEEESSSS!!!"

Do it. That would be awesome. Although I have to ask; mirror face or napkin head?

The boyfriend and I are about to go through this in a couple weeks. Luckily there is a two week window between our settlement date and when we have to be out of the apartment, so it's not going to be super stressful. He is super laid back about it... hasn't packed anything yet. I, on the other hand, started packing shortly after we signed the contract for the house. :D

moving does suck. We move into a house and my wife said "no more moving" :) We have so much stuff accumulated for the past 3 years. You be surprise how fast you accumulate stuff when you have room for it.

Motherfucker needs me to help him move his shit in. Damn it. I want to relax in peace, and do nothing! NOOOTHING!!!

Over the past seven years, my friends and I have performed no less than 40 moves. When my turn came, I had a small army to call upon and the truck was loaded in one hour, unloaded in one more and all my stuff was set up and installed three more hours later (save for the paintings on the wall, 'cause it was past midnight and I didn't want to start my life here by pissing off the neighbours).

When my friend's turn came, it got loaded in one hour and unloaded in 20 minutes. At the end, we stood there looking at each others, vaguely disappointed at how easy it had been and kinda wanting to start over to at least build up a good sweat...

We be EFFICIENT mofos.

and good friends :) it is good to be able to call in favors.

I still have nightmares about the time I had to help my friend move. It was a day and a half of drunken shenanigans loading everything. When we got to his new place a couple more people showed up and it only took twenty minutes to unload it all. Amazing what you can do when you aren't drunk.
