I apologize in advance if this has already been posted; I tried searching and came up with nothing. Long story short, Google's giving away 60,000 Cr-48 laptops with the Chrome OS installed on them (although I think ~20,000 have already been given away); you can apply directly through the pilot program (http://www.google.com/chromeos/pilot-program.html), or you can go through one of several websites that are either doing contests for them (such as LucidChart), or entering people in drawings for them (Zoho Apps, Box.net, etc). Apparently it's pretty hit-or-miss who gets one, but a chance is a chance.
And no, not a bot...I just haven't been on in a while (busy as hell this semester in grad school), heard of the promotions, and thought you guys would like to know.
Also because my laptop is now holding a charge for approximately three seconds, screaming at me after it heats up while plugged in, and (due to the whole grad school thing) a free netbook would be AWESOME.
