I'm working on cleaning up someone else's mess and am trying to figure out the path of least resistance.
Basically, the local Makerspace needed a contact number and someone decided the best way to do it was to get a Google Fi account and put a second SIM card in their phone. That person/phone is now going away. Is it possible to associate the Google Voice number with a new phone, port the number to the Google Voice number, and discontinue the Google Fi account? (The idea is that a Google Voice number would more easily access SMS and calls coming into this number.)
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Yes. You don't even need to associate it with a phone.
Cool. I have been a little concerned that since the Google Fi account generated the Voice account would be a stumbling block. I'm still tempted to associate another real phone with the Google Voice account first, just to be sure.
