RIP Google Wave - Aug. 4, 2010

Google is pulling wave. They are keeping the site active until the end of the year and then totally buh-bye.

Why? Because not enough people liked it. Couldn't be because of the lag, wonky interface or difficulty in getting to it.

No joke. Liked the concept, ran slower than molasses.

It would have been great for gaming. they even had addons you could put in for things like dice rolling and such.

But alas!

Yeah, I didn't like it because it was slow as heck on my connection, and it felt bloated if you tried to use it just as a chat. I guess they just tried to cover too wide a range of service.

I was actually using that :(

Dammit.

I used it for a bit and then just...stopped. The concept was kinda neat but I couldn't find a way to work it into my normal communication habits.

Yeah, way too slow. Seemed like it did tried to do too much and suffered for it.

Ame & I used it a few times for board stuff...but it was so slow we just went to IRC.

Even though this failed (for now) I still love the fact that Google is willing to experiment with this sorta stuff.

I've seen this posted a couple places already and I've been waiting for someone to put it as "Google Waves goodbye to Wave".

What? When was the last time you used it?

I refused to do that joke.
