This comic has been around for a while and I've been a fan for some time. It easily tops my WC priority list as it never seems to fail to surprise me on just how deep it is. Characters are never what they seem in the court and the comic constantly blurs the concepts of good and evil.

For those unfamiliar, it is a light hearted fantasy/drama about the attempts at cohabitation between worlds of nature and technology. Or rather a very strict "You stay on your side, and we'll stay on ours." The main character is a young girl attending a school on the Technology side, but has a strong connection with nature and magic. The plot focuses mostly on her discovering the history of the court and of her parent's perplexing past.

She also has a demon trapped in her stuffed animal.

It's a good read from start to finish. There is also a definite improvement in the art as the series goes on. In fact some pages are practically works of art themselves.

This is a bit of a spoiler, so if you'd rather read the comic please do so and avoid peeking ahead. But by far my favorite page ever is this one.. It's one of many revalations that you get regarding a particular character. Suddenly you just understand him. And that's without a single word spoken.

I discovered the comic a few months back and since then I have read the entire archives and been checking up on it regularly

I checked it out and followed it for a while after Neil Gaiman recommended it, but I couldn't get into it and stopped reading after a while. Which is really bizarre--it feels like exactly the kind of story I like reading, but it didn't click for some reason.

Did you at least finished the Archive Binge?

Also, Theory:
Many people now think that Jones in the daughter of Jeanne, I also think that she is like a "spirit of nature", but born after the court and florest was separated, thus she is a spirit of the "technology" explaining why she is so heavy, strong and why sparks fly of her skin when that sword hit

.
I don't know how early or late when you first discovered, it could be very early and only worth a few... hundred pages
So it could be that you liked reading while there was always a new one to read next, but it could that you stoped reading because the slow pace made it hard to take (Good lord, how I hate Girl Genius these days)
I am also completely dumbfolded that someone couldn't like this, thus my need to ask any possibility.

I didn't say I didn't like it. I just said I couldn't get into it, even though it's the kind of story I like to read. You were also flabbergasted by my dislike of fanfic, and GK is at least good. :p

You should probably get on Charlie's case for not liking things before me. I like far more things than I should. In fact, I'm gonna start hating some things anew, just because you spurned me into it, and all the pain that results will be your fault. You'll be the Hal Jordan now.

I am annoyed with the generalization that "fanfic = shit" rather than the truer "fanfic = likely to be shit, but there are precious few pearls that need to be taken out of the waste and be appreciated". Specially I dislike the vibe that people seem to hate fanfics because it is "cool".

Well, I promise you I am not doing it to be cool. I've never been about the grand flow of the status quo, or whatever.

I do it because it's shit. ;)

I also dislike the very idea of fanfic for much the same reasons that George RR Martin outlined on his blog once upon a time, but I think that discussion's been had.

Well, with a taste like that no wonder you din't like this story.

I guess me and Neil will just have to enjoy this one without you. ;)

That's twice in one thread now where you didn't read what was typed, Hal Jordan. You really gotta work on that whole reading thing between slaughtering the innocent and reading bad fanfic about Harry Potter disrobing Voldemort.

First time I tried Gunnerkrigg, I read part of it, thought it was okay, then forgot about it. A little while later, I tried it again and liked it better. I think the beginning of the comic is kind of weak. I think it grows the beard during chapter 7. Or maybe chapter 8. Can't remember which.

edit: Or it could have been chapter 14. :?

Sorry, let me say that again "Well, with a taste like that no wonder you din't like this story enough to keep reading"

my bad, I don't have enough time to read things carefully, now, if you excuse me, I have a day to bright

I'll have to keep up with my Tropes, Allen.

I'm especially liking the latest chapter. Friday's comic was expected but still powerful.
