Had My First Cigarette In 12 Years Today:

For starters it was a bad idea to try on my drive home from work. Blew my mind, was having trouble focusing on the road at all. Felt fantastic.

Then.... I parked my car in the parking lot and tried to walk upstairs. Yeah I nearly spewed my lunch/dinner. I'm not sure if it was the cig or the fact that I ignored my lactose intolerance about 6x today but I was nausious as all hell, I was sweating profusely and I wanted to hurl worse than I have in years.

I don't remember having that reaction when I did smoke back then, that was also 12yrs ago so my memory on the bad part of it may be faded a bit. Thoughts?

I'd say it's ether you ignoring your lactose intolerance or you had a psychosomatic reaction to lighting it up. Why did you light up in the first place?

Life has just beat me to a pulp. I also quit working out and starting using food as a subsitute for alot of things. Needless to say, I'm not happy with that. So with smoking (for some odd reason) being a socially acceptable thing again these days (When did this happen btw?) and being a good substitute for snacking, I picked up a pack.

Maybe it's just where you live, but I actually find that most people get more crap for smoking than they get for drinking or being overweight. Regardless, I'd probably stop if this is how you keep reacting to them and switch to something else.

Well perhaps I should have simply said it's acceptable around the area that I live. (Trust me, I was as surprised as you all sound) Guess I didn't quite mean it on a National scale. The cigs I smoke are $5 a pack and I never did the whole "pack a day" style of smoking.

Yeah pretty much the opposite here now. I remember being a kid and it being alright to smoke, everyone smoked. It was actually kind of cool. But now everyone looks down on you like you are some kind of homeless pauper with leprosy and aids. Granted I just moved to college is it's better because pretty much anyone here that isn't a fucking prude who never does anything fun smokes at least on occasion.

See that's how it was for me too. High School it was the "thing" to do. Then there was a good 5-8years there where it dropped out. Now suddenly, it's back again as big as it was before in this area at least. It blew my mind. Then again, I was out of the social loop for the last 8 years or so.

I would vote its a combo of both.

I smoke two cigars a year, one on my birthday and one on the anniversary of my divorce.

Always get a slight buzz off it.

It does seem to be becoming more popular around my college campus. Which sucks for me, cause I can't smell it without feeling sick, yet the only way for me to get away from it is to be a social recluse and stay inside one of the buildings.

And even that doesn't always work when some douche is smoking just outside the entrance.

It's cooler to hang out outside the bar smoking than it is to actually sit inside. Hopefully winter changes that. I feel left out when everyone goes for a "dart" and feel even weirder when I go out and stand around with them outside while they all smoke.

Well here it is illegal to smoke on any school property in the whole state so we can't smoke on campus but the sidewalk right after campus there are tons of people and at the bars everyone is always smoking out back or on the smoking patios.

Edit: It's also to smoke inside any building except for casinos and tobacco shops.

pics or it didnt happen.

Shegs, don't be a dumbass. Put those cigs away. It's not a solution to anything. Eating in excess as well.

Look....if you really want to put something in your mouth, Jay can help you with that.

*puts a hand inside his pocket and takes out..... a pack of stride gum!*

The taste lasts a REALLY LONG TIME!

doing it because the cool kids are doing it?
Bad call ripley, bad call.

I replaced smoking with eating. I have health issues up the.. yeah. I can't say overeating is any better than smoking.

If life has beaten you to a pulp I recommend a different 'coping' mechanism, but I don't know which one.

Exercise. And lots of orgasms. Bonus if combined.

Well shit, I've only been doing the one.

I'm guessing your body didn't have the nicotine addiction set in place to allow it to 'overlook' the bad effects. It got all, "I don't think so! Nuh-uh!" on your behind. But I've never smoked (anything), so I have no first-hand experience to speak of.
