Haley's been found! The shop lady heard reports from the maintenance staff that a kitten had been stalking the tops of the massive water pipes in the basement floor. Sure enough, got my flashlight out and went among the pipes and I heard her start to meow and there she was. Just brought her back into the apartment and the other cat is ecstatic and Haley just ate a hearty meal.

Something similar happened to my cat years ago. Was only a couple floors in that case, but I think she found her way out, got lost, and couldn't remember which floor she lived on, so she stayed on the ground level because it was warmer.

This is the first thing that popped into my mind reading that.
