Today marks the 9th (!!) anniversary of Mikko’s passing. It’s sad and I miss him but it’s time to celebrate knowing him!
Post your favorite thing about Mikko/North_Ranger here!
(Oh, and happy anniversary, Halforums.)

My favorite thing besides his unfailing optimism, was his introducing me to one of my favorite bands, Poets of the Fall. He posted something about them once as an aside and I love them! Plus, every time I listen I get to think of Mikko so it’s a win win, baby!

My yearly reminder that he owed us a real, native Laplander hunted Santa Claus every year.
I'm very sad I'll never get to show him the episode of Little Witch Academia that takes place in Finland. He'd have loved it.

We didn't have a ton of direct contact but he had such an impact overall here, and I smile a little bit whenever I come by and open a thread he started. I'll usually read his message before "jumping to new" just because.
I remember when, much to his dismay, North Ranger had to explain this guy:

I loved his humor and optimism in the face of the challenges he had to tackle.
Also he also worked in languages and translation, so that's something we shared.
Also I liked his beard.

I admired his spirit especially towards the end. Think about him often.

The most cheerful guy you ever met. I wish I had finished that series of Henry VIII comic strips all those years ago. He had mentioned how much he loved the idea just before he told us his illness had gotten worse.

He was a great guy, wish I got a better chance to know him.
