Blah blah blah I help run an anime con blah blah blah.
We like to make our con interactive for everyone and have a story for the convention that progresses each year, and the congoers help with the outcome. For example, this year our two con mascots are getting a magical animal mascot to go with them. They are getting this by hatching an "egg", which will hatch into one of four mascots.
To go with a Pokemon joke, we've gotten lots of pedometers that all the congoers will get, which will count their steps, which they can turn in at a booth towards whichever animal they want. Winners of certain events can also donate X points to the mascot of their choice.
At the end of the con, the winning animal is announced, and it becomes the congirls' and convention's new mascot permanently.
However, this year we are doing a cliffhanger ending. The animal will hatch and say something to the effect of "But before I can be yours, you must defeat my 7 evil ex-owners!" to lead into year 5, which will be a Scott Pilgrim vs The World kind of theme.
--------------------
So we were trying to come up with a game for next year. We've done "collect points" in one way or another for 3 years in a row, which would get old. But, we want lots of congoers to be able to enjoy the game.
Also, a huge concern is that the congoers shouldn't be able to "lose" the game, because, well, that's no fun. (In year 2, we had a Light side and Dark side, so one team could lose, but another team would win, so in all it worked out, and it still decided next year's theme.)
Here was my idea, so I'm hoping you can expand upon it or offer ideas:
We have 7 "exes" that are "masters of their domain" posted somewhere at the con, either all day or at specified times. They must be beaten by someone, anyone, at the con to be marked as "defeated".
Examples would be Dodgeball Master, Pokemon Master, Game Room Master (Guitar Hero or something), Random Battles master, etc.
These guys would be really really good, so that it would be difficult to beat them.
This creates a problem of balance though. If they're TOO tough, they may never be beaten. If they aren't tough enough, they could all be defeated without much spectacle early on in the con.
Also, it allows many people to try to beat them in varied enough fields that someone is bound to be skilled in them, but it also excludes people who may not be good at any of it.
I do like the idea of "There are 7 bad guys and SOMEONE among us can stop them! But who?" which might create some tension and have people cheering on the challenger. Or maybe not.
Another problem is that we like to have stage skits, so anyone who we find to be the "master" may not be a good actor or want to be on stage. Also, if nobody beats them, then what?
It's got lots of problems, but I think it could be interesting. Does anyone have any ideas?

Furthermore, if you have ideas for a "defeat the 7 evil exes" event, feel free to post them.
