Help me get rid of this virus/spyware/malware/whatever it is

I seem to have somehow allowed for some pain in the ass bit of software to get into my computer.

I run AVG, updated daily, and I've run three scans since the problems started. Its coming up with dozens of results, including a couple of trojans, each time. This is not something I'm happy about.

With firefox open for any length of time, it opens up an extra window and tries to go to a site (one of three different ones each time) that claims to be offering spyware removal but is very clearly a virus and the cause of that window opening up.

Furthermore, typing into any search engine causes trouble. From a google search, clicking on any results brings up like 6 different urls, none of which are the one I clicked, and all of which will begin with "bestwebsearch.net"

So, what can I do to rid myself of this pest, if AVG seems powerless to stop it?

If you can get to it on your pc - MalwareByte's anti-malware - free & catches a bunch of malware. Have to manually run scan without paying for it.

If you can't get to it on your pc - download it from another pc.

I work on computers for a living and make heavy use of it.

Edit for link.

This last time, it was bestscanpc.org.

And while I was typing that, two more windows just opened up. One with two tabs (one for 649.com, the other just said "The webpage "com" cannot be found DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found. The link may be broken.")

And while I was typing THAT, two more windows just opened up. Both would not finish loading whatever page they were trying to get to.

And while I was typing that it opened up another tab in THIS window. That's new.

It wasn't this bad before, either. This is smurfing ridiculous. Before it was maybe once every 10minutes or so. The problem's getting worse.

I can get to malwarebytes.com, but the download page is just loading indefinitely, meanwhile more windows are being opened up taking me to http://top&selectedlistingid=7124487/

Third malwarebytes recommendation.

If you're just having trouble downloading it, get it from work/the library or something on a flash drive, then go home and disconnect your computer from the 'Net while you install it.
If that doesn't work, try installing it while booted to Safe Mode (or Safe Mode plus networking).

if you can't hit the malwarebytes website, try booting safe mode w/networking. That may be able to save you the trouble of hunting down another PC.

Even in Safe Mode I cannot download from the malwarebytes site.
One of my roommates is coming back on Tuesday, I may have to use his computer to download from.
