It's because Microsoft is trying to set a world record with Kinect sports, but if you live in Europe, it applies to ALL games during those two days.
For everyone else in the world, you also get free Xbox Live online gaming, but only for Kinect Sports. Apparently they can singularly grant access everywhere else.
