I'mma make 100 electronic nametags to sell at the Detroit Maker Faire (see upper left gizmo in this picture) a week from Saturday. I don't know that anyone here would be interested in buying one, but if you are, PM me.

Also, I'm setting two aside as prizes for the following two contests here:

* Funniest thing I can put on an electronic nametag.
* Guess how much I'm selling them for at the maker faire.

So post your funny things to put on the nametag and/or how much you think I'm selling them for, and you might get one customized with whatever you want on it.

I don't know that they'll sell at all, nevermind sell out at the maker faire (though there should be a few thousand attendees, so maybe...) but if you really do want one, let me know by Thursday July 29th so I can set it aside for you.

Neat. Can you set the display to step through multiple words?

Also, $13.37

I had thought about going to MakerFaire Detroit, but annoying family was being annoying and I couldn't work out a schedule.

Best thing to put on one would be Mr. Right.

Price is probably for 7.99. But if you order right now, within the next 20 minutes because we can't do this all day, we'll throw in a 2nd name badge for the same price. That's 2 name badges and the super shammi for 7.99 plus S&H.

My wife added the bling, and now it's actually something someone might actually consider wearing:

At the fair people will be able to choose the foreground and background color from about 8 choices, and there's a pin on the back to attach it to one's shirt. It'll be animated with a few messages (for the faire it'll likely be "The Detroit Maker Faire" then "[name]" then maybe some nifty animation (or a configurable phrase like, "I'm lost" or whatever you guys come up with). I'm still working on it, so it may include the time and temperature by the time I sell them at the faire.

Keep those guesses coming, I'll stop the contest on Tuesday, so get your phrases and price guesses in before then. I'm liking what you are coming up with!

What was the highest bid? ok $13.38
I sold them for $20 at the fair. Didn't sell very may though, so now I have to try and sell them on my website. Anywho, you win the first prize. Let me know what you want on yours, and what colors you want surrounding it. It's animated, so a long scrolling message will fit fine. You can instead have several messages scroll across it, each given about 4 seconds before switching to the next message.

I can't say any of the ideas for funny things to say really tickled my funny bone, so I'll accept more entries for another week or so, and then either choose one or hold a poll and let the forum choose.

Turns out that standing up in front of a booth for two days is really tiring.

Watching the eepybird guys do a diet coke and mentos show in person was fun, and the life size mousetrap was pretty cool. All the other maker faire stuff was neat, though I had very limited time away from my booth. The people next to me were, on one side, making musical noise with electronic stuff, and on the other side reading the nerve signals from cockroach legs and, among other things, using the hair on the legs as a record player stylus. Across from me I had guys doing laser shows. At I was indorrs with the airconditioning. A lot of booths ended up outside, but they did get more traffic than I did.
