How much do you pay for your internet?

#1

One of the great internet sayings is, of course, "You wins an internet!"

So for one of the upcoming contest prizes I think it would be cool to give away an internet! Or at least do so by sending the equivalent of a month's internet through PayPal!

But as I'm hurting for money I don't want to pay too much. Plus, if you only pay $5 I don't think it would be a good prize at all.

Respondents will be anonymous so don't worry about people questioning you.

I am getting gypped with my internet. In my area I am stuck with pretty much only Comcast and they are charging me about $30 for their cheapest and slowest internet package (about 1.5 - 2.0 mbps).

Maybe we should take a donation pool and buy a computer as the prize ;)

Kind of like winning an internet!

15 Mbps Down/8 Up, $15 (includes phone).

I'm part of a building package, so I get a big discount, but I'm also locked in to my provider choice if I want internet at home.

No option for "nothing but i don't steal it either?!" (not any more anyway)

Because no one pays for either of the 2 connection we have at home... part of the package when they where allowed to put their switches on our staircase(is that right in english? the part with the common hallways in apartment buildings).

I do pay a bout 15€ (with tax) for my mobile net... but that's because it's unlimited and it got me a better price for the phone. My brother pays about 5€ for 500MB/month...

Great price!
FIOS currently only offers 7mbps as their 'highest speed', but because I was lucky to get in when they were first rolling it out, my plan is grandfathered in.

Unfortunately, I moved out of Lewisville shortly after I *first* got FIOS (which was like the first week they offered it, in the country). Back then, I was getting 20mpbs down, but was paying like $49.99 for it. Still, the speed was pretty sweet. I remember having an argument with some cable internet douche at the state fair...he was this 'hard sell' type who wouldn't get out of my face until I told him I had fiber optic to the house via Verizon and was getting thirteen times the download speed his company offered for the same price. By that time, a crowd had gathered, several people asked who I was getting my internet from, and he realized that he had just lost a ton of sales. Heh ;)

Now, I get the same data rates as you, but I pay about twice as much.[/QUOTE]

I hate those cable internet guys. Every vendor conference or public tech show I go to has a cable internet booth for someone, and they always have one hard-sell type who won't get out of your face.

I'm very grateful for my plan, but also a bit mildly antsy about not being able to wield the "cancel-and-sign-with-competitor" hammer.

Shaw High-speed, $37/month for 7.5Mbps download, 512Kbps upload.

Of course, judging by the amount of time it's down, it's more like 0.0Mbps download, 0.0Kbps upload...

I pay about 45$ after long time customer discounts for a Fiber line through comcast. 30 Mbps up/5 Mbps down sustained. still itching to get a newer more speedy modem so i can unlock the full potential of my line, which is about 5x the speed I get now.

Reboneer

Roughly 10 Mbps, $60. Although I accidentally voted $61+.

Ok now everyone, actually test your speeds: Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Second test. I'll bet it'll get even better when I log out of my VPN with work. :)
