How much trade in value for a PS3 for an Xbox360?

I've had my PS3 for awhile now and although it has a few decent few games; more and more I'm eyeing an Xbox just for the extensive library it has.

The only thing that is stopping me at the moment is the 360's lack of blu ray drive and wireless feature capability.

Will I be able to get much trade in value if I do though? I still may keep the PS3 and get a 360 next year.

I just wish there were far more games to pick from.

Call me gripey but the only games I've truly enjoyed thus far on the PS3 have been Uncharted 1 and Arkham Asylum.

I wish Fable II would come out for the PC yet. I've played it on a friends Xbox and while its not as great as Fable I; it's still fun to play as a bad guy.

With the newer PS3 and lower prices (299 for 120GB) the older models probably won't worth as much (we have 40gb model) That is my guess :(

I keep saying things like this, and people simply keep insisting that I'm simply some kind of xbox zealot, even though I spent over $1000 on games and peripherals for the PS3 in a vain attempt to justify my purchase of it.

In the end, PS3 has great hardware. PS3 has good concepts, PS3 has no real good exclusive games.

As for trade in value, I'd see if you could sell to a friend. A few months back, I sold the console and the last of my untraded games/peripherals for $300. Gamestop's usually good for just under 50% of what they'll sell the console for, so you may only get about $100 for the console alone, if you're lucky.

Okay guess I'll just keep my PS3 then. I've got nothing against it since I'm itching to own GOW3 next March.

I'm still a bit pissed off that you 360 users get the new Final Fantasy game as well. That was for our console.

I am not surprise mainly company goes where the money is. Xbox has a huge following so there is profit to be made. Same for the Wii.

That's probably not a bad idea. The PS3 is definitley worth more than its trade in value (all consoles are,) and the God of War games have always been quality products.

Bah, the best games of the series came out on the SNES. I almost wish they'd just let it die at this point, as it's just a writhing shell of what it used to be. There's always hope that they'll make something noteworthy again, though.

...........?

So, you bought hundreds of dollars worth of games. Hundreds! But there just wasn't enough for you to justify buying them?

You completely baffle me.

Seeing as the vast majority of major games are cross platform, I smell some BS on your post.

So, what else have you played then...[/QUOTE]

Yeah... You guys know me, I'm not a huge gamer and I've been really picky about what games I do buy since my time is extremely limited but heres my list of games I have bought and enjoyed:
Bioshock - First game I bought. 10 out of 10.
Fallout 3 - Barely played it, I don't think I realized the amount of time it desires of me.
Resident Evil 5 - Awesome. 8 out of 10. Could have been longer is my only gripe.
Resistance 1 - Solid FPS. 7 out of 10
Resistance 2 - Solid FPS, a little bettter than the first. 8 out of 10.
Batman: Arkham Asylum - 9 out of 10. Could have used a few more hours of gameplay.

Thats off the top of my head. I feel like when I look around there are tons of games I could enjoy, but I'm limited time-wise. I guess if you spend most of you time playing video games an XBOX is the better way to go since it has more titles but... honestly the PS3 library is plenty big for me game-wise.
Plus, who cares if a game is on all platforms? I never understood exclusives. Why wouldn't the developers want money from all the console kids?

Prototype: lamer version of Infamous in my opinion.
Infamous:awesome rpg with some cool cinematics.
Resistance 2: okay. Kind of surpising ending even though predictable.
Motorstorm Pacific Rift: awesome racing game

If you have the original PS3, the fat bastard. You may be able to get a good price for it on eBay of such websites. The last two versions are harder to hack than the first. So the first version holds high value. -at least that is what a gaming blowhard that I know claims.

It's games and peripherals. I also should have noted that that $1000 includes the cost of the PS3 itself, controllers, cables, etc. I do apologize on poor wording, as I should have clarified that at the start. It also wasn't all at once either, it was over a period of time. I'm also not saying that all of it was horrible....far from it, actually. I'm more saying that I never bought a game that made me think, "I'm glad I bought this console, or I'd have missed this experience." (which is what I mean by justification) The list, or at least what I can remember off of the top of my head, was as follows:

120gb hard drive
Eye of judgment
guitar hero world tour (two guitar edition, purchased more for the custom songs and, at least up until I sold it, broken promise of ps3 midi import)
little big planet
resistance
infamous
mirror's edge
force unleashed
grand turismo (5?) prologue
ferrari racing wheel
lair
Timeshift
unreal tournament 3 (for console mods)
stranglehold
kingdom under fire
devil may cry
Pain, along with a bunch of add-ons
most if not all of the two dollar a pop camera mini-programs/games.

Seeing as the vast majority of major games are cross platform, I smell some BS on your post.
There's the mostly complete list. As you can see, I did occasionally buy cross platform games for the PS3, but had the misfortune of none of them being all that good (except force unleased.)

I love to play both games PS# and Xbox 360. I founded some different between both is that PS3 is good in graphics while Xbox 360 is also good in graphics but not more than PS3. PS3 provide good adventure games than Xbox 360 while Xbox 360 is good in shooter games.

No, it's pretty right. Infamous is a better game than Prototype by far.

Unless you only buy games in order to run down streets carving up civilians. Then I guess you should only play Prototype.

You're pissed off that more people get to play a game they might otherwise not have been able to? When it doesn't affect you getting to play it at all?

If you want to be pissed off, don't be pissed off at people who own a 360. Blame Sony for their hubris and constantly shooting themselves in the foot with their decision to make an expensive console, thus losing their considerable lead from the previous generation and losing a LOT of exclusives.

Actually, because Sony still owns a considerable amount of Square-Enix stock, they really don't mind if it goes multi-platform. They'll just get money for being a stockholder instead of their cut for all PS3 games.

That's not the -only- reason. I didn't like InFamous. I just found it dull. I loved Prototype though.

Though, that's all opinion. I was mostly replying because I never thought it was fair to either game that they always got classified together. Other than sharing pseudo-free roam, they're really nothing alike.

Gamestop sells used 360's without hard drive for like $150. You're probably better off to get one of those and keep your PS3 for the exclusives. Oh, and take whatever extended warranty Gamestop offers on the 360 just in case it red rings down the road. You never know where those used units came from or how old they are until you open the box. It might help if you mention you need one with an HDMI port as those are a bit newer than the first generation ones and may not have as many problems.

I would never buy a used 360. That's just... not good. Even if gamestop offers a warranty, I'm willing to bet their warranty isn't as good or as long lasting as microsofts.

Even though the failure rate is a lot lower, I wouldn't buy a used PS3 either, because they can give out. The only next-gen console I'd recommend buying used or refurbished would be the wii, because they're damn hard to break.
