They're looking to discontinue/sell off their PC division, have immediately discontinued their mobile and tablet division and are seeking to refocus themselves into an enterprise services company. Why is this so odd? well they were the number one selling PC manufacturer in North America, only bought Palm a little over a year ago, and their TouchPad is barely a month old.

This is bigger than Burger King dropping the king mascot. I wonder what happens to those who recently bought HP hardware. End of tech support - will warranties become invalid?

Sad, their enterprise services are worse than their printers and desktops.

Blech. The news articles I've read see this as the end for PCs while simultaneously declaring that everything will be done on smartphones and tablets within the next 5 years. There are tons of things that are better on PCs and I can't see that changing in the next 5 years. So, they're either full of shit, or we're going to struggle with some formally simple tasks because no one wants to make PCs anymore.
