The board software converts amazon links into amazon media links, which I never saw until I white-listed the site in my adblockers
so I need to add amazon.com to my whitelist?

I also had to whitelist Amazon Associates in Ghostery.
if you don't understand what I've said, then you don't need to worry about it
I used adblock plus and ghostery to minimize my online footprint. Adblock plus is great for ads, naturally. But Ghostery catches all of the little widgets, scripts, and cookies that sites use to track you. You'll be surprised at how much it catches when you first install it. I've seen it catch over 20 different tracking mechanisms on some sites.
