I'm halfway into Season 6 of DS9. The first 3 seasons or so are generally very slow going but once Season 5 starts, hold onto your pants. Season 6 so far.... has been EXCELLENT.

Remains to be seen whether Star Trek: Online and the movies will let the franchise pull a Lazarus.
I love the STO. It is set in the future (40 years AFTER the movie I think) which is distant future to anything that has been made before which is good. It allow open end story from there.
I do love the new movie and cast.
I do like the new changes and twist they introduce. It allow new movies to be made without "redo" the older version.

Love TNG, favorite ST series by far. Couldn't stomach my way past the first two seasons of DS9, just *ugh*.
This. This and this. TNG was good, grew up watching it. DS9, was far better.

The first 4 seasons of DS9 (the first 2 were the worst by far) are pretty slow but I appreciated the depth of the storyline past season 3 as recurring characters keep coming back later on to the storyline (example, my last episode I saw was “the magnificent farengi” and it had no less than 5-6 old characters coming back. Not the best show of Season 6 but quite enjoyable nonetheless) I truly encourage people to give it another shot. Some episodes in season 5 and 6 are awesome.
The newest series Enterprise was never really given THAT much of a chance… and it was fantastic (heck, my woman got into it as well and she HATES the geek stuff though she enjoyed the movie). The last season that show was ACE.

I think it was 15 straight years of a Star Trek Franchise on the air. And the series (pl.) started going down hill after TNG left the air. TNG was great, DS:9 was good, Voyager was terrible, and Enterprise was only somewhat good.

Ahhh Voyager... The Giligans Island of the ST universe.

Aside from the Vic episodes, the last 4 seasons of DS9 are probably the best Star Trek has ever done. I dig me some Dominion war.
I didn't really care for the emissary episodes. Actually, anything connected to the Prophets, from start to end of the series, was rather irritating to me. It was the Dominion war that made that show.
I would like to start going through TNG and DS9, as well, but I don't know the cheapest way to go about it. I have Netflix. I guess I should just queue up the series.

I borrowed all seven seasons from a friend, one at a time. Took me three months or so.
Yesterday afternoon she dropped off a box set of all the TNG movies, so I watch Generations last night.
Pretty sweet!

I know that my local library has a lot of TV series on DVD, so if you don't want to have to wait for Netflix (which isn't really that long of a wait anyways), you can always check there for free rentals!] It always depends on how modern your local library is however. ---------- Post added at 09:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:52 AM ----------
There are no TNG movies after First Contact. Nope. None.

The girl who lent me the DVDs apparently likes Nemesis the best, so I guess we'll see.

My only experience at all with any Star Trek series actually began and ended with seeing Insurrection as a kid but I remember only two very small parts of that movie.
Actually it's my opinion that your opinions, like your entire existence, don't matter to me. Also, that you're wrong. Good day to you.
I liked Voyager to start, then they basically made everything that made the show interesting to me (like actually needing to struggle to survive beyond just fighting bad guys) magically disappear.

i just bought season 1 of TNG and watched 3 episodes last night. I hope it gets better

I was just a kid when TNG came out on TV. I remember watching an episode of Reading Rainbow that took place on the TNG set. That was probably the start of my nerdiness.

I've said on multiple occasions that I hate DS9. I found it boring and the only character I found at all interesting was Dax. Of course, being a B5 fan, that probably paints my opinion seeing as most people either tend to like one or the other.

I'm a Niner, so my love for DS9 is well known. The characters actually developed over time in DS9 and their were real consequences for their actions because they couldn't just warp away if they messed up. Definitely have some of the best characters in the series as well. I'd go as far as to say Garak is THE best character in any of the series.

I loved DS9 and it is probably my favorite out of all the Star Trek series.
I just finished watching First Contact and thought it was GREAT. YES. Data is my homeboy.
Also, I've come to the complete and concrete conclusion that anything involving time travel or temporal anomalies at all will have me drooling like a fanboy.

oh god, you're so new. So new. Also, you're kinda young to be here in these parts.

Hey I am 23 turning 24 soon also
And I will agree that as long as they are done at least half decently I will so geek out over time travel and temporal anomaly stories.

Anyhoo, just watched Insurrection. I dunno, it wasn't bad. hwell:

I loved Garak along as much as Gul Dukat. I liked all the characters (Sisko was top notch) but I have to admit that Major Kira was by far my least favorite. Great series, gonna watch some more this weekend.
Is that tear for the death of Data, or the death of the franchise?
HEYO!
While it certainly wasn't a great movie I would hardly say it is the death of the franchise. I will say it certainly killed of the interest for any more TNG movies to be made. On a side note I always have wondered why they never tried to make a DS9 movie.

Nemesis, in conjunction with Enterprise certainly did kill the franchise. Tell me precisely what shows and movies are currently out in the ST universe?

I think it was a huge combination of things that led to the franchises currents state. I think part of it is that they constantly kept some form of Star Trek on the air for years and so they obviously started running out of ideas not to emntion people started to lose interest from over saturation. They needed to take a couple of years off for a breather. And in a since that is what has been forced upon us by the lack of originality/over saturation of the franchise. But of course thanks to the new movie any new franchise will be based off the movies time line.
