I play a table top 4th Ed D&D game, and one of the more computer skilled players has and iPad and is running i4e application on it. I must say it is the most impressive computer program for D&D I have ever seen. Beautiful to look at and very function. It's about the first time ever I have thought that a computer program could replace the elegance of a paper character sheet.

One of my players uses i4e on his ipod. It is very nice.

I've taken a look at it. It seems decent as a management tool for the character sheet. Is it worth 5 bucks?

So, that character is a class called the Battlemind (keep in mind here that I am utterly unfamiliar with 4E) with an ability called Speed of Thought and INT is their dump stat? Am I reading that right?

Looks that way. Seems that every time he rolls initiative he can freely move 5 squares. Also, this character gets a free action. Not sure why INT would be the dump stat. CON/CHR seems to be the biggies with CON by a wide margin.

4e is weird sometimes.

Reading it perfectly. The Battlemind is more of a psychically infused body and strength of will character. Not so much an intellect based character.

In most cases you can at least give a sort of explanation how a character does something. Not sure I could write context text about the burst of speed necessary for a character to be able to move 25 feet in an instant physically and then not be super fast after that.

I'm not saying that it isn't a wee bit strange that a class named the Battlemind can be effective while being dumber than a sack of bricks. I am saying that every edition of D&D is weird. Speaking of, I wish earning a ton of experience for getting a ton of gold would make a comeback.

Not a D&D player here but thats is sweet looking. Our bass player has just added an iPad to his synth rig and it's rad.

I always hated that rule. Just like a Barbarian getting exp for breaking magic items. Rules I got rid of fast!

I liked it mostly because you could get experience while still being careful and bypassing fights that could get you killed (most of them).

However, I will agree with achievement-based experience. Also hated demihuman level caps.
