And this time they say it can't be capped. Ever.
Congress: Cap it. That well can never be used again.
BP: Uh.... We spent billions on that site... erm...

sends robot down to make it leak

BP: It can't be capped! It's going to leak forever! Wait! Maybe there is something we can do! It'll be a sacrifice, but I think that if we work at it, we can get the oil from the leak and use it. Sure, it'll be painful for us to harvest, er, prevent that much oil from going into the gulf, but we created the problem, and we're going to solve it!

Sweet. Time to propose my spill detection method again. Hopefully I still can, being in private industry now.

Steinman, probably not so far from the truth. Every first year knows about salt-induced faulting, so it shouldn't be a surprise. Now, they'll just have to drill a relief well. You know, for the good of mankind and porpoises. And since they're already pumping, they might as well sell it to recover their expenses.

consider how much oil is down there (even after a major leak). It is a "gold mine" down there. BP is NOT going to give it up. The hard part is trying to prove it, but BP is just going to find alternative way to recover the big loss and drill for that oil.
