I'm starting this thread, because AwiQ is always asking me about Jazz.

Now I'm no expert. I just know what I like. So I'm gonna start posting jazz vids here that I absolutely love. Since I've been into funky stuff lately, let's start with a good one that many should recognize:

Here's a bouncy little number from John Ellis and the Double Wide called "All Up in the Aisles." The beginning's missing, but it's the only one I could find. I love this song. I'd highly recommend this album--Dance Like There's No Tomorrow.

This is one of the greats, at least to me, too bad the quality on the video is subpar. Do yourself a favor and find a better version.

This one's also a must. I grew up with this version of "My Favorite Things." Dad played it when we were all babies, he learned it on his flute, and it was always always in his car when he drove us around. God bless my Dad for exposing us to good stuff early on.

I don't hate that song.
I also enjoy smooth jazz.

This song blew me away, I always knew Turner could sing, but she sounds a lot more raw here.

O here's a video in which some crazy, free jazz (and other stuff) is dubbed into a Koz performance. I think it's better this way---with his cheesy little "dance" moves, it's hilarious!

Ah that's good. I'll just leave my other jazz transgressions out of here then.



I've never seen Hancock live, but the sax player, Micheal Brecker, puts on a great show. I love how a great improvisation can blend in and seemingly go on forever, but still sound like it was meant to be.

It's not jazz in the traditional sense, but when that brass kicks in at around the 1:30 mark, it won't make a difference.
