Just finished watching and had to comment - It terrifies me that the best acting I've seen all year so far has been from Jean-Claude van Damme. Obviously speaking in his native tongue helps a lot and having a director that's a fan and letting you 'do your thing' helped a lot. I'm hoping for a career revival a la Mickey Rourke for this poor bastard.

That and the first 10 minutes are better than all previous JCVD movies combined just for sheer lunacy.

 

[Charlie Don't Surf]

This movie owns. The opening sequence is breathless. His monologue is a goddamn amazing piece of acting. I loved it.

 

[Steven Soderburgin]

This movie had some good moments but the main story was not interesting at all. It basically falls completely apart in the last half hour. All the same, it's worth checking out for the very surprising and personal performance by Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Great performance, great start, rather bland middle and end.
