John Amos dies at 84

I've been re-watching Mary Tyler Moore recently, where he was Gordy the weatherman, but his most iconic role for me was James Evans on Good Times.
Plus Roots, Coming to America, and so many other things.

Aww, man. Hadn't heard this one yet. That's a real shame, I enjoyed a lot of his roles.

Ken Page, too. It's like we've got another one of those mass exodus before the disaster things going on.

Bloody hell, just a flood of celebrity deaths these last few days.

I know him best as Admiral Fitzwallace from the West Wing. Amazing screen presence there as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

I have my own odd story with this guy. Years ago when I started working at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn (it's name at the time) Mr. Amos was a pretty frequent guest. One night he fell asleep while pouring a bath and flooded his top floor room and every room below him. Never paid for the damage and never came back.
