Thats right folks! Hope all your holiday shopping is done! me, I wait until the 24th, get the gifts, get hammered, then wrap them in some insane sloppy manner! Tradition at its finest! How is everyone's holiday season holding up?
Also, the greatest part of my Christmas every year, my own personal tradition....?
Yeah, you are gonna be covered in my shiney man tinsel! Gonna be the new Xmas tree of the house!

I'm doing pretty good this season. I made some wine to give out this year, because nothing says I don't care enough for you to go out in public and buy something quite like homemade gifts.
My wifes impossible-to-find-sold-out-everywhere-including-the-interwebs gift came in the UPS shipment at work this morning. I should be getting enough positive marriage points to last half of next year.
Just leaving it at that. If I could skip Christmas, I would.
Yeah, I'm with you, Christmas just reminds me how fucking shitty my extended family can be.

General Specific
Yeah, I get reminded everyday that Christmas is coming up.
I do tech support for the U.S. post offices and most of them seem to think that reminding me of that fact will get them better service. So, I only hear how close Christmas is 30-40 times a day.
I only have Christmas Eve & Day off this year and I only got Eve because I have to work the Saturday AFTER Christmas.
I'm still looking forward to it. My aunt's just finally truly dealing with the reality of what happened last year, and it's been hard on her. It's gonna be a rough one for her. It'll still be great to see everyone.

Maaan, I dunno 'bout Christmas (family isn't even exchanging gifts this year); I'm just glad I'm-a be on break. That's Christmas enough for me. Oh, yeah, and Christmas cookies are pretty rad, I 'spose. And Dio.

Don't worry. You two aren't the only ones having a happy holiday. I am too!
I'm at my Grandma's place in Florida, my brothers arrive next week, tickets are covered for Universal Orlando and I have my Christmas shopping done. I feel positively in the spirit!
So, as I raise my glass of hot chocolate, covered in a healthy dab of whip cream, let it ring out: Merry Christmas!

In 5 days I get to drive 12 hours to my mom's house where I get to be treated like an unwelcome burden by my aunt's and uncle while they also treat my mom like shit because she's the oldest and for some reason always the brunt of their cocksuckery. I fucking hate my extended family. Most of my cousins are complete ****s and my grandparents (whom I actually adore) can't make it because of my grandpa's new health issues.
Ugh, I hate Christmas.
If **** is starred out, I want dick and or cock also to be starred out. One derogatory term for genetalia should not be treated with PC kid gloves over another.

Feeling good these holiday days. Lots of work to do but lots of flexibility in doing it. Can't wait to see the folks and my brother next week.

I get to cook more this year, because a few people can't bring their usual dishes.
I'm responsible for:
-Spinach madeleine
-carrot souffle
-pecan pie
-pumpkin pie
-spiced pecans
I can't wait to spend an entire day in the kitchen.
No, I love cooking! I always want to cook sides and stuff--not just desserts--but everyone else insists. I love being a part of the actual meal. ^_^ Now if only mom would give up the sweet potatoes. I don't like the way she makes them.... with pineapple in it... blech.
My parents can't come out over the holidays. We can't go back east any time soon. I miss my family and friends in PA and NJ. I haven't seen my best friend in nearly 4 years. And now my husband got orders for his next duty station where I may not see them (my family and friends back "home") for at least another 2 - 3 years. But, I knew what I was getting into when I married someone in the military, right? It doesn't put me in much of a Christmas-y mood, though.
At least my husband isn't deployed. There's a plus.

This is a great Christmas. While I enjoyed seeing my family a couple weeks ago, I am happy not to be dealing with their stressing, alcoholism, greed, whining, in-fighting, etc... the usual holiday season shit.
Instead, Julie and I are sleeping over at my aunts' house on Christmas Eve, watching the twins open their gifts on Christmas morning... No frantic "open quick!" no "orderly opening" no *glug glug* of the wine bottle emptying, no "we have to cook all day!" Just a nice relaxing night and day with people who understand the holidays are about enjoying yourself, not going apeshit crazy about unimportant things.
The new softer Sheg? Even your avi is in the spirit of the season.
We had our first snow yesterday, despite the impression Scotland gets less snow than some parts of England. Being on the West Coast we have it very mild so crappy rain is the norm. Snow and lying snow in particular has hit my Christmas button.
Me and the family are having no guests for the first time. So we can please ourselves which means Bucks Fizz and Caviar for Breakfast before a leisurely wind down to lunch. Chicken being the bird of choice this year.
Plus sides:
Watching TV with no guilt.
No, I say No, Brussels sprouts!
No presents for the adults. No not even socks.
The kids get lots of new toys so will pretty much entertain themselves for most of the day.
Two new Doctor Who episodes.
Down sides:
<.<
>.>
nope none.
Going to see my family for Hogmanay in York (a mid way for us going south and them coming north rental with gym and pool) and I'm on leave from Christmas Eve until the 5ht January. It really doesn't get much better. Seasons greetings one and all.
Agreed. I only enjoy watching my kids get their gifts. Thanksgiving and Memorial Day>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Christmas
While I'm into Christmas this year, that IS the big thing to me. I can't wait to see my little cousins open their presents. And actually, I enjoy seeing others be happy with what I get them. I think once you grow up, the excitement is less about getting stuff and actually more about seeing others get stuff from you.
And it's mostly for kids anyway. I think my mom is finally understanding that now that both my sister and I have moved out and my younger stepsiblings can usually buy their own stuff.
