I've never heard of this series. From what I've read it sounds similar to "The Boys" in tone, minus the graphic sex.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why Nicholas Cage is an A-List actor. I can count on one hand the number of movies he made that didn't such.
And the movie looks okay. The comic is... well, written by Mark Millar, with the kiddie-filter turned off. Nuff said.

look at Eddie Murphy, 80s Murphy was pretty good, 90s and beyond just started sucking more and more. Prolly the same thing for Cage, but i still like some of his stuff

While it doesn't look like it'll give me a huge fat woody of the cinematic masterpieces of say "The Crying Game", "Barton Fink" or "Brokeback Mountain" it does look good. Clip four alone makes me want to see it. Now if they could make a "Crying Game II" to silence all the critics who say Hollywood doesn't make great movies anymore everyone would be a winner.

One of those movies no one wants to admit is shit, because they don't want to admit they didn't get it.

Are you being sarcastic, I really have no clue where you're coming from when you lead off talking shit about a Coen Bros movie. I've only seen Con Air and Snake Eyes, of which one is so-bad-its-good and the other is just so bad. And if you're honest you also left off his Oscar-winning performance movie Leaving Las Vegas.redapples said:

No sarcasm. The ellipsis suggests this is not a comprehensive list. While Con Air and Snake Eyes may not be all time classics they more than suffice for Saturday night in front of a DVD and while you may not like Snake Eyes I think Cage's performance is pretty solid and certainly good enough to be considered A list.
I really like the Coen brothers films. I'm one of a very few of my friends who enjoyed the Hudsucker Proxy. Barton Fink though! Its the one real stinker in their firmament. Please by all means convince me otherwise.

(Ghost Rider, Bangcock Dangerous, Knowing, Next, National Treasure 1 and 2). Same damn neorotic role, and terrible. Why the christ I watched all those, i will never know.
And i would say he has been writing it in for a while now, pretty much doing the same thing. yes, those movies may do well, but to me, it is getting to the point where its the same damn thing time and again. he has good work, do not get me wrong. As to the OP, looks like the movie could be pretty cool. Whatever you think of Millar as a writer (and I admit that I've liked more of his stuff than I've disliked), he's a great example of how comics creators should treat their intellectual property- he's managed to keep the rights to the characters he created, and now he's leveraging that fact to make a shit-ton of money. This is much preferable to signing your characters away to Marvel or DC for nothing, then working for them as a salaried employee for 30 years before being let go with no pension or benefits, being forced to live off the goodwill of aging fans. Hopefully Millar's business approach becomes as influential in the comics industry as Jack Kirby's art.
Murphy didn't have the greatest career in the 90s, but by the end he started revitalizing it. Bowfinger and both the Nutty Professor movies were all pretty damn hilarious.Gadzooks said:
