Kitchen Nightmares

All of Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares are on Netflix, and uncensored. This makes me happy as I love so much of this reality show as it should be done. Not over edited, focus on the actual task at hand, and no guarantee of success.

Conversely Fox's Kitchen Nightmares is pretty much a prime example of what's wrong with Reality shows. Over edited, lazily produced (to hell with what happens we have a formula to stick to damnit!), focused on overacting people for fake drama to the point where the restaurant and food is not important (unless it's spoiled or dirty of course. DRAMA!), overbearing narration, and numerous freebees (look new kitchen equipment and my professional design team has totally redesigned your restaurant for you). I think what makes it worse is that you can see some of the footage sneak in (usually while the narrator is reminding you of all the "DRAMA!" that's taking place) that would actually make it an interesting show.

:fu:

Regarding the formula of the Fox "produced" show it pisses me off how all the improvements that get made either happened in a narrated montage or are gifts given by Ramsey (here, have a brand new stove you can't afford!). :fu:

Yeah, couldn't agree more. I loved the British show. It was as you said, more about the actual helping of the restaurant rather than over-drama, freebees and awful narration.

I'm not a fan of the American Kitchen Nightmares, mostly because I watched the British show first.

I sill love the hell out of Hell's Kitchen, though and that has everything you hate.
