Let the Right One In

I had remembered seeing this movie awhile back, when it got attention during the media frenzy during the first Twilight movie. It's a strangely beautiful movie about a troubled boy and the little girl next door that he falls in love with. Oh yeah, and the girl is a vampire. I saw the english dub on sale at Wal-Mart for $5, so I decided to pick it up to add to my collection.

I made my mom and 14-year old sister watch it, both of who are Twilight fans. I warned them ahead of time that this is not a horror movie, or an action movie, or even your typical vampire movie. Thus prepared, they sat down to watch it.

Final verdict from the twilight crowd? They both HATED it. Hated it with a passion. My mom hated that it "wasn't scary" while my sister hated that "nothing happened."

Moral of the story? My family never likes the same movies as me. That's pretty much it.

The English dub/one set of subtitles are also completely terrible and change the tone of a large number of the scenes :(
Yeah, I hated the english voices. They were terribad. But I know my family, there's no way they'd watch with subtitles.

The version I got has two sets of english subtitles. English, and English (theatrical). Happen to know which one is the bad one? I want to see what the difference is.

After watching this on NetFlix, I promptly ordered it from Amazon without a second thought.

I buy maybe 2-3 movies a year.

Theatrical are the good ones. I was lucky enough to see it in theater.

It was amazing in the theater. I can't imagine anyone who likes Twilight could like this movie.

What they like so much about Twilight? Is the stalking? The fact that guy wants to drink her blood? Is the paedophilic subthemes in the last book?

Not to mention the romanticization of domestic abuse. "It's okay if he hurts me sometimes, because he really really loves me and he can't help it" mindset.

pretty people I guess. LtROI doesn't have much sex appeal
Except they're not "pretty" to look at while reading a book
Are yous saying that they look pretty in the movie? Well, I find the guy that plays Edward hideous, the actor of Werewolf is kinda cute though. =p

I really loved the movie, I saw it with subtitles about a year ago because my girlfriend was watching all these vampire animes and twilighting and I told her that she should see a real Vampire movie. She and I both loved it, and now she hates twilight- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

However I've heard a few times rumors on the internet that they are remaking the movie in english into a twilight clone with teenager actors etc etc...

This worries me.

To the common undersexed housewife and 14yr old teenybopper, the men of Twilight are like instant soaked panty droppers.

Whoa, GCI cats...

And Apparently Eli wasn't a girl, but a castrated boy... which explains the creepy 12 year old crotch shot.
