LittleSin and the Unpunctual August Thread

I am late. Sorry Gusto!

Here...have some drawings.

The first two are characters you've seen in my threads before that you may or may not be seeing more of sometime VERY soon. Done with chalk pastels and ink in...two hours?

The third came out nothing like I wanted to do. A friend and I have this idea for a 'legacy' hero. You know, one who's name and power passes on when the last one dies/retires. This would be the latest incarnation of Hoodlum...but it looks nothing like I wanted it to.

Plus Jet contributed a little scribble over the foot.

Glad to have you on board, Sin, no need for apologies.

Strong submissions so far, hope to see more bits of this Yielding project as the month progresses. :D

Alright!

Yesterdays pic for dear Shego!

I went for succubus and, apparently, my scanner interpreted that a Dranei. Oh well. I think it looks cool. :p

Today's sucks the big one. I just wanted to sketch yet somehow it ender up with all this ink and color and it looks terrible. She looks deformed!

Oh well, better luck tomorrow.

I like that last one, it actually ended up looking abstract almost lol :)

The succubus pic is great! Really looking forward to your comic venture. :)

Indeed, they are both covered in awesome.

Oh Sin, Draenei is just as good, I played one for years!

I love the seduction in the picture, the pale girl giving herself over: Eyes shut, head back, hair loosed. Just ready to receive everything the demon is going to give her.

Love it! :unibrow:

So glad you like it! I was kinda nervous that you wouldn't. If that had been the case I would have drawn another. It is quite fun to draw sexy demons and innocent girls!

Meant every word of it. The draenei thing was a nice twist too :) but if I didn't like it, you'd draw another? Umm, in that case, "It wasn't that great or some junk" ;)

I don't know why but I was thinking about school girls today.

Or, well, school girl uniforms.

What a coincidence! I'm always thinking about school girls. ;)

That's a great one! Wish I could like it twice. :)

I was going to back ground but at the hour and a half mark I was like 'Fuck it'.

Also, apparently the scanner took away her hint of smile.

Guys, it may look like I phoned it in today but I tell ya, I TRIED.

I had written in my to-do list to work on a concept costume for one of my characters. I have a good casual look for him but the costume was some thing I'm lacking in.

So, today i sat down and drew about six different custumes in different poses. This is the only one I liked well enough to ink and splash a bit of color on.

It has its problems. The blue is to mellow for this character, as he is one of the "villains". I need to choose a darker colour. The cosutme also looks a bit to asian. That is a bit hard to change. I am a fan of the design but it may not be something for this character. He grew up in a economically depressed area and his family has some minor military history.

All in all, today I failed. I just couldn't get into it. It is a good learning experience and I thought I'd post about it because, it is my hope, that we can all learn something from each other in the Art forum even if it is from miserable failures. :)

Welp, spent yesterday and today finishing this.

Consider this another promo shot of my upcoming comic. I hope she looks deadly and mysterious.

Today I wanted to draw a person with out drawing a person. This is what i came up with.

Done with markers and oil pastels. I am actual pleased with this. It is arty!

I'd have put a noose at the end, but nice work and much better than my thought! ;)

Honestly though, very powerful imagery with the "liquids through the ages".

Draw every night you're on vacation and then come show us what you came up with when you get back. ;)

Now this I like.

Sin, don't take this the wrong way. But I don't dig the way you draw people. Your proportions tend to be way off and they tend to look like stuff a 7th grader would doodle on a notebook. I think you should either really focus up by buying a movable artist mannequin. Otherwise, I'd suggest sticking to still life like this or abstracts.

Sorry. Take my advice with a grain of salt. :hide:

I'm glad you liked that one Mathias. I was kind of disapponited to see that one didn't get much attention.

I am disheartened to hear your other critiques though. I mean, you should see the kind of stuff I was drawing in 7th grade! :p However, I see you're point I'll admit that figure drawing is a weak point for me. I', constantly working on it yet I never seem to improve as much as I'd like...though I have made improvements.

I'm hoping that my comic will help me with this and push me to drawing more and more difficult things.

Yeah, I want to be as constructive as possible. You have talent. You're a very talented artist. And I'm glad you're doing the comic strip. The only way to improve is through practice. My suggestion is to do what Fade and Gusto have been doing. Practice basic structure and proportions with rough sketching without focus on coloring it in. Don't erase much while drawing, shade over or line over what exists. That way you get a feel for lines and positions that are off.

It will.

As I've noted elsewhere before, my first botched attempt at a webcomic ad only one positive side effect: It made me worry about consistency of updates, and as a result, I sketched the same characters every day, and my comics towards the end of the ~10 month run were much better than those at the beginning. :)

It's the reason I loved the February Madness, and wy I started te August Madness. Nothing makes you a better artist than being forced to practice every day. Especially if other artists are forthright enough to tell you what you're doing wrong. :)

I'm gone to the 24 hour art marathon! Expect an art dump in here sometime in the future!

Usually I go with a plan of what I want to create but not this time. Let's see what happens.

LittleSin

Ugh. I have been so busy and sick this week. Yuck.

Anyways, here's the stuff I did at the marathon.

DSCF5272.JPG

Done with oil pastel and paint. Also the last one I did before I keeled over.

DSCF5273.JPG

Acrylic paints.

DSCF5274.JPG

Another acrylic painting. It was horribly done. It didn't match up with what was in my head at all.

DSCF5275.JPG

Another one done with acylic paints. It's about 4x3 and incredibly fun to do as I used my fingers for a lot of it. This was also the only one that sold at auction for about $200.00.

So, yeh. Sorry about my lack of updating. I think I'm beginning to feel better so I'll get more up soon.

I really like that last one, and congrats on selling it!
