Looking at Dragon Age

I'm going to be trading some of my old ps3 games in at the local gamestop over thanksgiving break and I've narrow it down. I was thinking of getting Assasins Creed II till I saw the ending.

I'm most likely going to get Dragons Age since I like most of Bioware's games.

However how is the frame rate is for a medium ranged computer? I'm on a laptop and can run most games pretty easily.

I know it recommends Quad Core as its Processor but I don't have that.

I'm running on a fairly midrange laptop myself, between the minimum and recommended setup on everything, and I'm pretty much limited to playing on minimum settings. It's certainly playable, and still a lot of fun, but you probably won't be able to keep everything cranked up.

That said, I still definitely recommend it.

I play it on a $1100 laptop at max everything.

Of course, it's a 'gaming' laptop so it has decent performance. Nvidia 9800m and 4 gigs of ram.

Okay thnks I was a bit worried that my performance would be lacking without a quad core processor

I run it on max with just a dual core, but I also have a nvidia GTX 260 vid card.

Quad core processor isn't needed, so long as you have a good video card and amount of ram.

Of course, if you posted your system specs, we might be able to offer a little more help :p

I've got a Duo core 2.4 800MHz processor
3.5 GB of Memory
256 8600GT graphics card

I highly hope you mean a 2.4GHz processor, and the 800MHz is only the bus speed.

Otherwise, you should do fine. Your gpu is a hair under the recommended, which is an 8800, but you shouldn't fare too bad. You might have to lower graphic and texture detail to medium-low.

I'd still recommend the game. It's a lot of fun, even if you can't crank up everything to max.

Do avoid the temptation to get it on PS3 though. While there's nothing wrong with the PS3 version, and it's a good choice for anyone who can't get it on PC, the PC version is so much better that it's hard to justify. The mod support in this game is huge, and will only get bigger as time goes on. There are already some -great- mods out there, like the respec mod.

I was planning to get it on the PC anyhoo laughs.

I have only a few games for the PS3 such as Arkham Asylum and the Uncharted series.

I'm primarily a PC gamer at heart.

Btw can I be a total badass in this game. Usually I play righteous characters when I romp through RPG's.

How badass can I be in Dragon Age?

You can be as badass as you want to be. From a roleplaying perspective, I rather like the game. Gone from previous Bioware rpgs is the morality slider, so being a hero or a jackass will have no effect on your character aside from what npcs who witness the actions think of you, and what consequences they bring.

From a storyline perspective, you play as a Grey Warden, whose entire schtick is that there's a big evil coming down the road, and it's their mission to stop it by any means necessary. So you can be the righteous do-gooder, inspiring people to glory and battle to defend their homeland, or you can be a jerk that forces them at knifepoint to do what you need to continue your quest.
