Martin Short's wife, Nancy Dolman, has died
August 23, 2010 | 7:05 pm
Nancy Dolman, actor Martin Short's wife of 30 years, died Saturday morning at the couple's Pacific Palisades home, his manager confirmed Monday. She was 58.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical emergency at the home at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Radar Online first reported. No cause of death was given, and Short's rep had no further comment.

Dolman also had a comedic acting career, appearing in episodes of the sitcom "Soap" in the early 1980s.

Short is currently nominated for an Emmy for his work in "Damages," up for outstanding supporting actor in a drama against Aaron Paul for "Breaking Bad," Terry O'Quinn for "Lost," Michael Emerson for "Lost" and John Slattery for "Mad Men."

Short and Dolman met in 1972 and married in 1980. They have three children: Katherine, 27, Oliver, 24, and Henry, 20.

Jeez, is that the curse of short Canadian comedians? Rick Moranis lost his wife to cancer years ago, Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner of course, and it seems there are a few others with similar situations.

It's sad, though. While I didn't like a lot of Martin Short's work, some of his films were hilarious. And it's got to be unimaginably painful to lose someone that's been part of your life for so long.
