McDonald's workers told whom to vote for

Considering how close the race for Governor is in Ohio, I'm not surprised. The general consensus is that it's swinging Republican by maybe 2%, but that's within the margin of error on virtually every poll so nobody really knows for sure. Then again, considering the simple fact that the minority communities here routinely get the old "The election date has been moved" cold calls every year, I'm not surprised by anything anymore. Ohio's a fucking hellhole and I can't wait to leave it behind me.

I think that if he had worded it better it would be okay, but the wording (partial, couldn't find the whole thing) that I saw was wrong, doesn't matter what party it's for or against. This guy deserves to be busted.

If he had been telling workers (and not through their paychecks) about potential consequences to a specific ballot proposal, I would be completely okay with that. But telling employees, in their paychecks, that if "the right people" aren't voted into office that the company won't honor their contractual obligations to their employees is pretty fucking foul.

Not to mention illegal.

Yeah, putting that in a paycheck envelope with their paycheck and then saying if Democrats won they wouldn't get raises was pretty stupid. Incredibly so.

Democratic chairman asks authorities to review voting advice from McDonald's in northeast Ohio
By Julie Carr Smyth (CP) – 1 day ago
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Democrats are asking authorities to investigate a handbill tucked in the paychecks of some McDonald's employees in northeastern Ohio that advocated votes for three Republican candidates.
State party chairman Chris Redfern said Saturday he has asked Stark County prosecutor John Ferrero and U.S. Attorney Steven Dettelbach to join others in reviewing the insert as possible illegal voter intimidation.
Employees of Paul Siegfried's McDonald's franchise fast food restaurants in Canton received the handbill. It urged workers to vote for Republicans John Kasich, Rob Portman and Jim Renacci in order to protect their pay raises and benefits.
Siegfried apologized Friday. Records show he donated $500 to Kasich's campaign in September.
