Evan Ratliff, the WIRED reporter who decided to "disappear" for a month, yet still remain "on the grid" by using the internet and such, has been found in New Orleans.
His computer's IP address was traced there via unencrypted sessions on Facebook, and the only gluten-free pizza place (Ratliff has celiac disease) in town was staked out.
Sweet! Of course, that really proves nothing about how easy or difficult it is to disappear these days as I think a legion of tech-savvy treasure hunters are going to be better at this than most people who are searching for someone who has intentionally fallen off the grid.

pretty nifty, but i agree with dave. If you really were trying to be off the grid, i doubt you would be using your facebook.
