The Mac's Time Machine function spoils me. Plug and play set and forget. But what's the most "mac-like" PC back up method? Thanks in advance!

I shouldn't have said "best maclike" instead I should have said "best for a newb PC user"

I will definitely check it out, Patrick. Thanks again.

I was looking at it as more 'most like Time Machine' feature-wise. Retrospect was originally developed for Mac, it's been around since 1984. But no idea if it retains its Mac roots after changing hands so many times.

I just use the Win7 backup function in Control Center. Works fine for me. Sped up my replacing the HD in my laptop by several orders of magnitude.

I use Retrospect for local backup in combination with Carbonite. Though lately when I save over top of an old file (i.e. open an old file as a template and forget to "save as" before editing it) I find it easier to bring the old one back from Carbonite than from the external drive, since I don't always keep it plugged in and I'm on the go a lot. I don't always have the external drive accessible, but I can always wireless tether to my Hero to access Carbonite.

Of course Carbonite is a subscription service, but it's not too expensive - I think $50 a year or something like that.
