I feel the same way every time I see something awesome made in Blender ... I've dicked about in it once or twice, but I can't imagine seriously learning the ropes.

woohoo! i finally got round to doing more of my animation project :teeth:
its nowhere near finished mind, still need to add most ofthe detailing and all of the textures. :rcain:

Having had no exposure to the making-of process that comes along with 3-dimensional rendering, I believe I am more than qualified to say that those look fantastic!
Also, that zombie drawing is pretty awesome too :zombie: :teeth:
1.) Some kind of a surveillance/propaganda hovercraft (similar to the airships in Blade Runner). I could see this slowly hovering over the canyon-like streets of an eerie future cityscape, the front screen showing live feed of "traitors to the state" being executed or a loop of "Big Brother is good. Big Brother is watching over you" or something...
2.) Back view of a hoverchair?
3.) Massive orbital prison/ prisoner transport.
4.) Sleeper ship, non-FTL-capable vessel used in the early stages of interstellar colonisation.
On your spaceship theme, what about the Owl's flying machine, Archie? :3

I don't like the fence. It obscures the bot, makes too much of the picture "fuzzy"
But damn fine work all around, dude.
#47
Ross
You're getting damn good at all this 3-D stuff. Keep it up!
#48
checkeredhat
Dude, I'm seriously blown away by this. You've got a good eye for technical drawing. I'm never able to come up with believable concepts when I'm trying to create tech.
I've never used blender, but if its anything like Maya, then I'm double blown away because you've got some serious 3D modelling skills as well.

not sure what else to add really. i think the fence is probably going to have to stay up, because i can't think of how else i'd have a partition from the main street area, yet still be able to keep the same view and see anything else.
Wouldn't even know how to go about doing this kind of stuff... I'm impressed.
#65
Espy
Wow man, you are really making some nice stuff...
#66
twitchmoss
early back-end of a steampunk dirigible i'm quite pleased with the engine section, though the hull still needs a lot of work, still not happy with the blockiness.
Ya know, I know how one draws, sculpts, paints, etc... but this is like MAGIC to me. I wouldn't even know where to start doing that kind of stuff. It's very very cool.

twitchmoss
Been a while huh? thought i'd add the latest thing.
#75
Krisken
The Empire should have used those instead of AT-ATs! That there looks cooler and way more effective.
Nice mossy!

D'aww, it's like a metal bulldog! ^_^ I want one.

first part of a train station!
#78
Cajungal
Nice. Like the font.
#79
Andromache
neat stuff. How long does it take to render/create something like the train station sign?
#80
twitchmoss
the station sign? 45 minutes or so maybe. most of that time is planning on what the thing is. once i have the idea of what its shaped like, then making the stuff. to be honest, its quite a simple model, at the moment anyway. partly because my poor compy can't really cope with high-poly stuff much, and well, because its easier to work with for now. the textures are a bunch of procedural materials from the blender material archive. the render time was... a minute? two?
#81
twitchmoss
and now a train!
#82
twitchmoss
a result of boredom and excess nostalgia. bitch be TRIPPIN' BALLS.

Baerdog
I choose you!

I love the reflection!

something different!

Nice balls, Moss.
Like the spooky woods, too. The shape of the trees is really neat.

Exterminate!
How long does it typically take you to make an image like the Daleks?
#89
twitchmoss
the daleks? few hours over a few days normally.i tend to spend the most time getting the model right, then sticking on the textures, which doesn't take as long.
and now, new stuff!

So, aages ago, i started on an animation project i never finished. all i ever managed to do was this and that was the last i managed to get done, end of 2008.
So i decided to start from scratch! and first frames are something of an improvement on the old i think
#92
twitchmoss
yep, thats the plan. problem is its a higher quality material, so... one frame takes four minutes to render on my compy. and 20 minutes to render in HD.
#93

*blows the dust off the thread*
dang. its been a while hasn't it? I'm trying to get back into the swing of things yet again. heres the first of hopefully many.

It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it...

I already said it in IRC but that's very nice. All except for the emblem.

imperium of man actually.

This would'a been much betta.
#103

well um, its been a while. heres what I'm working on.

That's still not a sandwich.
#105
Krisken
I dig it, mossy
#106
twitchmoss
Something a bit different. I don't know if i'd consider this finished or not. i followed a tutorial as best as i could, but couldn't get the seat to work :\

#108
Krisken
Very awesome, mossy.
#109
twitchmoss
I'm actually really pleased with how this turned out. its a test of a multiple-pass render, with diffuse, specular and ambient occlusion
#110
twitchmoss
thought I'd have a go at redoing one of my old blender files in 3ds max, with new stuff i've learned since.

I have to admit that the lack of a filament and filament support inside the bulb is unsettling for me. GHOST BULBS. Quick fix would be the frost the bulbs so you wouldn't see the inside anyway, but that would probably significantly change the composition, wouldn't it?
Nice, though. I like it. It's making me think about the room full of mouse traps and ping pong balls, and for some reason the room of cats with rocking chairs. Sets me on edge, all those glass bulbs lying around on what might be a hard floor.
