I'm Ed Power. I write a comic called 'My Cage'. A few of you asked a few months ago why we aren't a web-comic.
Then I got distracted doing a proposal for a graphic novel titled 'Santa vs Dracula' (to be released by Slave Labor Graphics' in 2010)
Anyway...we've decided to play to our audience since we are more poular on the web then in papers, and since you were the ones who brought it up, I figured I'd share. Our first 'web-exclusive' (i.e. rejected) comic is up at our we-site: www.mycagecomic.com
Thanks!

I fucking LOVE the Santa versus Dracula video! I never knew Santa sounded so much like Sean Connery.

You guys been following this? He's doing a Star Wars thing using syndicated comic characters.
I could have done more. I should have done more. I had to go to an out-of-state paper's site to even find them, but I could have done more besides reading daily.
DAMN YOU TOM BRAZELTON... AND SCOTT KURTZ... AND KRIS STRAUB!!!

Damn. I was digging that strip, too.
I'm so sorry, Ed.

I guess the first question is, is there anything preventing you from continuing My Cage in another venue?
I am sad to see such a promising comic cut down. My only hope is that they will continue to make it as an online comic.

Ed's here (somewhere). All we need is to lure Melissa over to the dork side and we'll have the matching set.

I really REALLY was enjoying the series. Sorry to see it go. I'll go buy the book if I can still find it.

In many (most?) cases the syndicate gets the exclusive rights to the characters, story, art, etc before it'll publish the strip in newspapers. Many artists ave had to wrest control of their work back, and that only works in very limited cases.
I suspect that even if he wanted to, he wouldn't be able to continue it online, as the syndicate has nothing to gain from just giving him the rights back.
