Mystery Experiences company

So, for Christmas, I signed up for a Mystery Experiences subscription. It's $30 a month, and I wasn't sure it would be worth it. I signed up 2 days too late to get the December package, so we got January's a few days ago.

My wife and I broke it open at 9pm tonight. This mystery was "The Heart of Darkness"

We worked for 4 hours, until 1 am, to get through the entire Mystery. Not every item had a use in a puzzle, but all of them were related to the mystery/story in the box. In essence, each "mystery" seems to be an interactive short story--you read/learn a few things, and then have to solve a puzzle or sleuth some clues to move on to the next part of the story.

It was very cool, the most fun my wife and I have had working cooperatively at something in a long time. And, in my opinion, totally worth the money.

I originally found out about it because of an ad for the Mysterious Package company: https://www.mysteriouspackage.com/

But their packages cost like $150-400 each, and come in installments. The internet was full of people complaining that there was an extremely long wait (like 3 months sometimes) between installments, and that price--omg!

But, in the process of researching that company, I found https://mysteryexperiences.cratejoy.com/
Their subscription plan is $29.99 a month, and you get one package every month. They have a limited subscription plan--they start making their mystery packages 2 months before they ship, so they know exactly how many they're making, and how many new subscriptions they can accept for any given month. It's a pretty smart business plan for gradual and continued growth.

Mystery Experiences does sell a couple of 'premium' mysteries for $180, but I haven't tried those out and don't know if they're as good a value for the dollar.

This looks awesome, thanks for posting it. Spent my weekly weed allowance on this instead.

I've never been more jealous of the kind of thing you have access. My wife would love this.
