I love the like button - it's reduced my self-important need to post "I agreed wholeheartedly", "That's hilarious" and similar replies to awesome posts.
However, there's a whole 'nother class of posts where I still want to post, "Aw, that sucks!", and "I hope things go better soon!" and so forth, and the like button just seems wrong for those cases.
I want to show my support for my fellow board members without cluttering the threads with one-off posts, and I strongly suspect that people would more frequently show their support for others since a lot of complaints are too minor for a whole response, but still deserving of sympathy/empathy/telepathy.
Anywho, consider passing this feature request to xenforo - the ability to add more varieties of "like" and customize them.
While you're at it, we haven't had enough forum drama, so we could probably use a "I hate this with the passion of a thousand burning sons" button. (though they are passionate, suns burn forever, which is inappropriate for the internet. Burning sons is very passionate, but the flame dies as quickly as the drama in a silly thread.)
But, you know, the commiserate one is a higher priority.

Oh, and if your SON is burning you should put him out instead of posting.

Stienman doesn't need to worry if a thousand of his sons are burning. He has more.

I agree then you have to explain that you don't like the angsty post about someone's tragedy you just understand. maybe we need an i understand button.
Instead we have a latest thread ticker. That's so helpful.
