Did you guys manage to catch the new trailer for this upcoming D&D game? It looked good, the realized it is limited to 5 classes. Shame. Very little information on it.
I'm going to try to be optimistic it may be OK but Atari really sucks and should be the last people to have the D&D license.

If it's anything like Daggerdale, you should be very afraid.

Yeah, I'm going to go forward expecting Neverwinter to be complete shit. Hopefully I am wrong.

D&D computer games are either completely fabulous or total shit. I've been burned more times than impressed.
The good ones in my book have been the old school Gold and Silver Box games, and the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale series. Also the old dragon-flight simulator was cool.
I heard the original Neverwinter Nights was good, but I was already put off too badly to purchase it back in the day.

I wished they'd make a proper Neverwinter Nights for 4th edition. What I'm going to get is probably a Diablo clone.
You might want to consider the fact that the guys who actually made the game (Cryptic), as opposed to the guys who payed for it (Atari), just got sold off to Perfect World... I don't have ANY hopes for it. It's highly unlikely that any of the original dev team are still working for Atari.
That was a great game, the first time it came out for DOS.

Yes, the gold box Pool of Radiance was a completely different beast.
The 2001 sequel, Ruins of Myth Drannor was a snorefest of epic proportions. Let us boldy go forth... and sucketh!

That was the game that put me off D&D games forever. Because, why would a game that came out in 2001, not run on Windows 2000?

After looking at my Origins Game Fair packet, I just realized that Shane Hensley (of Deadlands, Savage Worlds, and City of Villains fame) is one of the minds behind this title... that means it may actually have a competent story. I'm a little conflicted now. On one hand, I loathe Jack Emmert, the head honcho of Cryptic... but I enjoy the work of Hensley.

Man, I wish someone would go back to the Gold Box standard. Those games were absolutely the best DnD computer games ever made No offense to BG as that was a great series too but the Gold box were the best at capturing what it was like to play DnD. Loved that you walked around the world in First-person/real-time but went to isometric/turn-based for combat. I lost a lot of sleep playing those games.
